Huh, I started playing this in bed last night, got as far as France, there's meant to be a trippy chase scene, which will be the reason for me playing this again. Also the tube level was waaaay too dark. Oh, and my fleshtube, who usually couldn't care less about vidjagaems was quite enjoying the talky bits; so good job ND I guess.

Never finished UC2.

I don't understand the hate this game gets. It's not as fresh as the second one, but quality wise it's almost as good.

The combat setups were really bad.  Like the enemy types, enemy placement, flags for when and where new enemies would arrive from.  It all reeks of not being playtested enough and instead it's a frustrating mix of deaths out of nowhere and combat engagements that are not fun.

That combined with the story skipping around, not explaining things, and having kind of an abrupt and "done before" climax, made for a game with a lot of problems.

What I'll give U3 is that it has darn good character development.  The main cast are some of the most interesting characters in gaming recently.  They're developed and portrayed in a realistic way that makes it almost like watching a solid film.  A lot of the set pieces are also real impressive and obviously great visuals.

It's worth playing, but it's totally a "Could have been" game.  What it does right is the setup for a great game, but the combat makes it unfun to play and the story is such a mess by the end it's hard to care about the narrative when it's over.

This game is pretty boring. Apparently I'm already half way done. I just did the sequence where you get drugged and then chase Talbot. None of these villains are interesting. And why are they making me delve deeper into what makes Drake, Sully, etc. tick? They RAID TOMBS and see cool shit. Why do I have to feel for them?

Dude, that's the only good part of the game (not the drugged out bit, that sucked).  But then again, I like my characters to have development and stories that make me care about them and their relationships to each other.  I like Drake and Sully a lot, so I enjoyed all their backstory.  Best part of the game.

It doesn't work.  At all.  Don't even bother.  Just get ready for the two dozen guys in bulletproof suits to jump out of nowhere.

uncha vita  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> uncha three

Yeah, pretty much.  Stealth works and story (mostly) makes sense in Vita game!

the stealth and melee showcase the ineptitude of uncharted 3

stealth in uncharted 2:  taking out dudes silently means less dudes to shoot when shit gets poppin and a tactical advantage, like taking the high ground with a sniper rifle.
stealth in uncharted 3:  no point.  do it or don't, more enemies rush the room anyway.

enemies constantly rush you in uncharted 3, meaning you're meant to punch them, except the melee system now takes like 15 seconds seconds instead of 2, and enemies still shoot and toss grenades while you're in a fist fight with their comrade.  makes no sense.

Stealth in Vita is sort of the most fun because it's like U2 but even easier to take out the entire squad.  Otoh it doesn't have the interesting and vertical locations to stealth around so U2 does it better.

Uh, that statement is contradictory but I can't decide which stealth I liked better.  Both did it right!  U3 did it soooo wrong.

that sounds fine.  the reason stealth was such a great addition to uncharted 2 is because the combat isn't that great.  stealth was a means to bypass a great deal of combat by way of platforming and understanding the environment, which are the strengths of the game.  it brought in something from other games and made it work.

uncharted 3 scoped out dark void for design decisions.

I don't actually hate Uncharted 3 or anything.  It's just really disappointing in confusing ways.

That's usually what happens. And the enemies that magically appear behind you, above you, endlessly. More monster closets than Call of Duty.

Like I said, the spawn points and enemy placement are fucking busted in U3.  I did not enjoy the gameplay of the 2nd half AT ALL.  Neither did 90% of the people I talk to.  They messed up.

Surprisingly though, my brother who is a non-gamer and plays like 2 games a year max (Dead Space and Uncharted games), didn't notice the bullshit stuff at all and thought the game was easy and he never got frustrated.  Weird.

This game was so doodoo. The "supernatural" twist was ok, but they didn't even build on it. Lack of final boss was shit. A whole section dedicated to walking in the desert.

What a turd. Uncharted 1 was better.

uncharted 2 was better. multiplayer in that game was actually really good, shame they had to ruin it in uc3 by making it all call of doody like.

I'm disappointed they don't open the jar.

They're like "oh my god the water is tainted" tainted with what? Why do I care when I don't even know what it is.

They took the time to explain the blue tar in Uncharted 2

Aside from MLB, it seems like every major 1st party Sony franchise has 1 good game out of 3.  How did they get this rep of having the strongest 1st party development?

I think chapter 1-11 are solid because the combat is pretty much in the background and it's just exploring set pieces + puzzles + story.  It's chapter 12 at the docks where everything goes to hell in a hand basket.

I was on an Uncharted kick this weekend and played through 2 again.  What a fucking awesome game.  So then this morning I went out and finally picked up Uncharted 3.  WTF!?!  I'm only on chapter 10 or 11 but so far this sucks big black hairy balls.  The combat hasn't been even remotely satisfying.  Not at all like the first two games.  And why the focus on hand to hand now?  So far it's been unbelievably boring..... don't know if I want to finish this

Never seen this claim being made outside of the sony camp at gaf.  Regardless, sorny probably is the best 1st party pub when they're not also being the worst 1st party pub.  Their actual developers are pretty overrated.

Hold on now....   There's no unlockables like unlimited ammo and weapon selection in this one?  That's one of the things that brought me back to the first two and the reason I actually gave a shit about doing stuff like getting 50 kills with an AK.

This game is an even bigger disappoint than I thought  :-\

Game was rushed and Naughty Dog admitted as much.  I guess they didn't have enough time to add in extra quirks like tubby Drake, filters, etc.

at least the Poseidan Adventure inspired level is pretty cool, and the graphics are awfully darn nice.  But in every other way its a 75% quality copy of Uncharted 2 (ps I don't care about multiplayer).
