Peter Molyneux, one of the most respected video game developers in the world and one of the top creative minds on the Xbox team, is leaving Microsoft and Lionhead Studios, Kotaku has learned."It is with mixed emotions that I made the decision to leave Microsoft and Lionhead Studios, the company that I co-founded in 1997, at the conclusion of development of Fable: The Journey.," Molyneux said in a statement to Kotaku. Fable: The Journey is this year's forthcoming Fable game for the Xbox 360 Kinect. Molyneux will continue to be involved in that title as a creative consultant.Molyneux is exiting both his position as the leader of Lionhead and his role as the creative head of Microsoft Studios Europe, which primarily consisted of overseeing Lionhead and Rare. Lionhead will be run by studio co-founder Mark Webley. Microsoft is not immediately naming a new head of the European studios.Molyneux will move on to an as-yet unpublicized independent venture, one that ends his tenure at Lionhead. That studio is responsible, under Molyneux, for more than a decade's worth of ambitious games.
Former PlayStation man Phil Harrison has been crowned the new head of Microsoft's European Game Studios, GamesIndustry International has revealed.He will fill the boots of the recently departed (from Microsoft) Peter Molyneux.Eurogamer has backed this up with sources independently.
That studio is responsible, under Molyneux, for more than a decade's worth of ambitious games.
Explaining that he’s decided to be ‘more honest’ about what sparked his decision to use Kinect, Molyneux offered: “I am just sick to death of having my hand clamped to this controller – of having to be forced to use my thumb in a certain way, and having my other hand clamped to the other side of the controller, and having games say ‘No, you will do it this way, and if you don’t do it this way then we will punish you’.”Molyneux said typical console control inputs make him feel “like some laboratory rat running around a maze, being forced to experience games in that way.”Speaking in a video interview with Gamereactor, he added: “I remember the days when we first had controllers, when we used to put one finger on one button and then rock it back to touch the other button, when we used to flick the controllers… those are all gone.“Sure enough, controllers are great, they give us exactly what we want, but that is so tedious and boring now.”

Milo was a tech demo designed to trick people into thinking that Kinect was going to do something other than make them feel awesome about navigating menus.
His new studio (www.22cans.com) will dabble in Facebook/ iOS games for sure.
