Unofficial Vita/PSP Backwards Compatibility Roundup
« on: March 09, 2012, 12:08:55 AM »
Thought it would be a good idea to have a separate thread to post PSP games which run on Vita but aren't on the official BC List (yet, or ever).

LittleBigPlanet - works via PS3 transfer.
Gun: Showdown - works via PS3 transfer, and is actually playable now that there's a second analog stick.
Modnation Racers - does not work.
Valkyria Chronicles II - works via PS3 transfer.
Thexder Neo - nope
Patchwork Heroes - nope
Socom Fireteam Bravo 3 - nope

Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman - works through vita, keep bilinear filtering off.
Gladiator Begins - works through vita  (DLC doesn't work through Vita or PS3)
Dissidia 2 Prologue - works through Vita, map analog stick to d-pad.

Killzone Liberation - works through PS3, map analog stick to d-pad (used to command troops)
Ratchet and Clank Size Matters - works through PS3
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories - works through PS3

How's the upscaling?  Can you choose to play in original resolution?

modnation racers was one of the free psp "sorry we got your credit cad info jacked" games

upscaling works pretty well, gun:showdown looks better than it did on the psp

LBP looks a little rough, but the filtering helps

Gun: Showdown is the PSP version of the EA PS2/Xbox/360 game, it's an open world (sort of) third person shooter set in the old west, a bit of a precursor to Red Dead Redemption. Really decent game. The PSP version is the entire console game contents + 5 new missions/modes. It was frustrating to play before, using the face buttons for camera control, but with stick emulation and turning up the camera speed all the way the controls are great.  It's $9.99 on PSN, but I had like $2 in some sort of refund money in my wallet so I only paid $8. I bought it on Steam for $5 during a sale, but found out it's a jank lazy port of the console versions with no widescreen options and shitty low-res graphics. Vita > PC, in this case.

killzone liberation is fun shit imo

yeah, I liked it a lot.  Main reason I was looking forward to Killzone 2 back in the day is because of Liberation's improvement over the pile of shit first game.  I liked KZ2 too, but haven't and will probably never bother with KZ3.

I'd rather have Killzone Liberations 2 with twin stick controls over that Killzone FPS shown off.  In most cases I'd rather have something different on the Vita.  I mean, Daxter or Resistance Retribution were unique compared to the main games.  I liked that.

bunch of PSP games went on sale / had price drops today.

some Atlus games had big drops.  Kenka Bancho went from $40 to $15, Persona 3 is $20.

Armored Core games are $10 each (anyone play these ports?)

Everything Tom Clancy is on sale temporarily.  I'm considering Splinter Cell Essentials for $2.50.

edit: there's a banner for Atlus
