Not sure I have any good advice here for you outside of just being honest with her about your feelings on this stuff and her. Some chicks are destined to just be friends, or fuck buddies. Not everybody is serious girlfriend/wife material.

She is pretty much a hipster, she didn't know what a hipster is when we first met, a natural hipster i guess.

She didn't like that I was against it, she said that it was wrong that all this food is thrown away. I told her what you are doing is not the solution, if everyone does like you and wait for the products to rot or expire to not pay for them the store will close down and everyone making a living through it  from producers to transporters will get affected by this.

Rarely will perfectly good and safe food get thrown away.  Dumpster divers take a pretty big risk but I guess that is their prerogative.  I know my grocery store was always leery about it because they were scared that someone would get sick off of some expired food thrown in a dumpster and then sue us.

The way they look at it is that it is usually below 0 degrees Celsius and we have pretty high standards and precautions so a lot of the time there is nothing wrong with what they throw away.

Perhaps American girls are just more girly girl but I would make a prediction that 99.9 percent of American chicks wouldn't touch something from a dumpster no matter how pure it was. I mean people are nuts about dropping a piece of their own food they are currently eating on the floor and picking it up and finish eating it. (Which doesn't bother me at all) Of course part of that is social mores but still.

I think some times crazy people are simply being mislabeled as "hipsters". 

There is certainly an issue with waste in first world countries. I worked in fast food places in college and it always did strike me as unfortunate that certain foods simply just get thrown away at the end of the night. But there certainly have to be more intelligent ways to go about this issue than dumpster diving. Like a lot of social issues it strikes me as people wanting to do something about something but doing it in a very ineffective manner. Then again I just have to believe that outside of poverty issues, very few people are doing this.

it is probably a bit of jealousy, just low-level jealousy that falls under human nature. you've never been irrationally jealous over something you only kinda want before? should be easy to keep in check though. your situation sounds kinda awful (and a bit north of fuckbuddy to be honest), and I don't see more than two outcomes.

you could take it to the next level and she would be happy for a while, but would you? you really don't seem that enthused with her...this also disregards the fact she is throwing up all sorts of red flags. it is worth noting that she is probably in a situation she does not want to be in and that is probably exacerbating the crazy, but who knows! there is also the issue with your passive-agressive bro, you stealing her would probably make things wierd for a bit. then again, this could be remedied by telling him not to worry, there is a 98% chance he will get some of that rebound action when it doesn't work out!

other option is to start putting some distance between you two. if she is really your friend, it would be shitty to straight-up bail on her. hook up less. this may be taken as a straight-up bail by her though, and you may lose your friendship.  which happens a lot when you sleep with your friends. just try and keep communication open, be honest within reason (tact!), and hope for the best. 

if it goes wrong, hopefully you haven't told her how much your strange friend's behavior bothers you, cause if she's pissed, there is a chance she'll fuck him to piss you off. this doubly sucks because he will then think there are nothing wrong with his methods, and keep on creepin on. there is nothing worse than when lame behavior is positively enforced.

My thoughts: sounds like she might be acting out because she likes you and is trying to get your attention. Sure she sounds a little crazy, but when I hear stories from friends about their crazy sexual escapades (I been in a stable monogamous relationship for over 5 years so shits fairly tame for me) and shit they get up to when drunk, out of context from what I know about who they really are they would sound more nuts than this chick but I know they're good people. also for the people ripping dumpster diving, it can be way less dicey than you think. A city supermarket I like would throw out all their fresh daily bread and crates of booze if say one bottle in a box of beer would break so if I was walking by at night drunk I would grab some shit.
