they are going to show a preview on the next GT.TV episode,it's called EPIC MICKEY 2:THE POWER OF TWO,it's for ps3 and 360 and wii
altough there is also a rumor for a 3DS version

i'm not sure why this is being made... epic mickey was easily one of the worst wii games i had the chance to finish while not owning a 360... why sequels to bad game keeps happening? :fbm

Because it sold decently for a Wii exclusive and it probably never should have been an "exclusive" in the first place. All though if they go crazy budget on this (Spector claimed 700 people were working on it which sounds like bullshit to me) then there is a chance this will be a mega flop.

Time to set up a Kickstarter!

I hope he's just talking about the entire publishing arm. Like marketing people, business people, testers, Disney reps, etc/

So, I'm right there, I'm trying to figure out what the future holds, I'm trying to figure out how do I continue to make the kinds of relatively deep, player driven experiences that I want to do, not just on the console, but on mobile phones, etc. You ask how do I feel about iOS: I mean, if the opportunity were to present itself, if I ever left Disney, not that I'm planning on doing that - we have over 700 people around the world working on our new game now. But I would love to do a game with four guys. And the iOS, or mobile platforms are the place where you can actually do that again. So, I have a strong interest in mobile games, and I would love to try that. I think a lot about "how do I bring that idea that playstyle matters and choice and consequence gaming, character-driven story stuff, to that little iPhone or the little Android device?" No one has really done that, and so for me personally, I'm looking at that as an opportunity and hoping I get a chance to do it.

Nowadays it takes you longer to watch the credits for a big pub AAA game than it takes to actually play it, so yeah it's probably a whole lot of localization or whatever.

I never played the first game but it looks like a cryogenically frozen N64 title. What's keeping them from making a cool Disney 2D platformer with Rayman Originish art?

I watched part of some playthroughs of the first on youtube because I was interested in it but it looked like a subpar game to me, but I didn't play it so...

It seemed to have an interesting premise/story. The gameplay just looked not so hot.

it is a subpar game, the 2D section are nice and take inspiration from a variety of ancient disney cartoons, but the 3D one are horribly bland and boring even through thereoticaly they take inspiration from disneylands ride's (for example the first level should take inspiration from "it's a nice world" but it's just a bunch of pipes and slugs with no tought or effort put in it) there is a super stupid gimmick where you are equipped with paint and thinner, you use thinner to make some platform vanish or destroy enemies,or you can use paint to make some platform appears or alternatively brainwash enemies but it just seems there because western games are about CHOICES

and this game feature moral choice's! deep one like "should mickey go do the boring fetch quest and be nice to the NPC or should mickey just skip the boring fetch quest and be mean to the NPC?"
i like this part the best

Quote
So, at the onset of the game, Spector says, the team “set up the silliest choice you could possibly have, which is you can either get a treasure, making you richer and more powerful, or you can free a trapped Gremlin. And you can’t have both, which one do you want?”

What Spector should have known is that at one point, a tester would figure out a way to get the treasure and save the Gremlin. Spector’s carefully planned tool to teach players that they would have to give up some things was found to have a hole in it, and the gamemaker could not have been happier.

“For almost any other developer, that’s a bug. For me, it’s a celebration,” he said.

what a friggin tool >:(

anyway the most fun i had was collecting all the reference to the old  cartoons so back when i played i compiled a nice list of every cartoon that's featured in the game and here's it again, some links might be missing since it's a pretty ancient list

Mickey and the beanstalk
Steambot Willie
Mickey Steamroller
Plutopia
Oh What a Knight!
Trolley Troubles
Great Guns
Thru The Mirror
Alpine Climbers
Clock Cleaners
Mickey's mechanical man
Jungle Rhytm
The Castaway
The Whalers
Shanghaied
Lonesome Ghosts
The Mad Doctor
Haunted House
Ye Olden Days
Sleeping Beauty

I guess they always want to go "more edgy" when going for the sequel.

And is probably 2D/sprite-based, going off a tease post by a Nintendo Power editor on GAF.

other details about the 3DS game, stolen from other places:

Quote
Power of Illusion is being put together by DreamRift, the studio behind 2011's Monster Tale for the Nintendo DS. The game, which is its own side-scrolling, platforming title (instead of a mere port of The Power of Two), is a follow-up to Epic Mickey, but more interestingly, it's also a follow-up to Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, a 1990 game for the Sega Genesis!

Power of Illusion will make heavy use of the Nintendo 3DS's stylus. By tapping the item icons exist in every level, you'll be able to "paint" (trace) those items into existence, including cliffs, cannons, and floating platforms. The more precisely you trace, the better for Mickey. A flawlessly-painted canon will only damage Mickey's enemies, for instance, but if you mess up the painting, the canon will be a danger to everyone in the area.

Sometimes you'll need to erase objects, which is done by spreading thinner. Again, the stylus comes into play here.

The hand-drawn sprites in Power of Illusion are extremely compelling, and, thanks to scrolling parallax backgrounds (a heavily-used graphic technique in the days of 16-bit gaming), reportedly look great in sterescopic 3D. Even better, every level in the game is based on an animated Disney adventure, from "Sleeping Beauty" to "Tangled" and lots in between.

As a final declaration of oldschool love, every character that Mickey saves in Power of Illusion will take up residence in the fortress that Mickey uses as his home base, a confirmed nod to the esteemed Suikoden RPG series. Sometimes you find references in the unlikeliest of places, but that's part of what makes video games fun. Right?

There's no release date set for Power of Illusion (Fall 2012 is a general target), but expect lots more information on this game as the weeks march on like Mouseketeers.

tl:dr:  2D platformer, jumping through different disney worlds (like KH without the fuck), made by competent developer.

I'm looking forward to it.

also the surely shitty version is coming to PC or something

there is a modern HD version which is just the sequel of the previous game that launches on all 3 console's,and then there is a 3DS version which is 2D and it's the one featured in the screenshot above

the 2D one is developed by the team that did harry hatsworth and that monster game i can't remember the name

I hope its not like those weird ds games that required you to hold the stylus in one hand while you use the face buttons to jump around and attack.  Hopefully they come up with something tactful.  2d in 3d is amazing.  Best showcase of the 3d gimmick.
