So, I have acquired an iPad.  Let us not speak of the terrible things I did to make it happen...

Anyway, what are some of apps you guys find to be indispensable?  Obviously I've installed basic shit on the thing like facebook, gmail, and awesome games like dominion and ascension.  Start naming useful apps, bitches.

I can't live without Splashtop Remote Desktop

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/splashtop-remote-desktop-for/id382509315?mt=8

You probably also want a video/music streamer program.

There are a number of them that do the job so just pick out the one that suits what you need the best.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-video-watch-your-videos/id306550020?mt=8
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/streamtome/id325327899?mt=8
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goodplayer-movie-player-downloader/id416756729?mt=8

Pandora of course

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pandora-radio/id284035177?mt=8

Alot of people don't like safari and instead use Atomic Browser

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/atomic-web-browser-full-screen/id347929410?mt=8

I'm a weirdo who likes NPR so that's useful for me.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/npr-for-ipad/id364183644?mt=8

I'm not a huge fan but a lot of people like Flipboard

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flipboard-your-social-news/id358801284?mt=8

Zite is the new news reader hotness
Instapaper and Readability also essential - Instapaper is compatible with more services (twitter) but Readability looks nicer.

I use a ton of remote control apps:
Spotify/remoteless
VLC Remote
XBMC Constellation (for XBMC, natch)

Fucking around with iMovie today, lots of fun (see the Fitness thread!)

Skype is massively useful now

Splashtop / Team Viewer also way more usable than on iPad 1, I find.

Comic Zeal for all yarrr comic needs (although you want comixology for teh HD hotness)

Air Video is the best I've found for video streaming

Air Display is handy at times - lets you use the iPad as an extra monitor for a desktop/ notebook

Apart from that, whatever you have on your phone, I guess.

I use Fing to map out networks. It's a bit cumbersome in that you have to manually force a scan sometimes, but it works very well 99% of the time. Alternatively, Net Master HD. Ping analyzer just for my very very basic ping needs. Subneter because I got it for free, usually don't need a subnet calc anymore.

System Status (orange/gray icon) for pretending to have a task manager. Kinda neat to have a look at the syslog and other stuff.

Speedbit HD for YouTube whenever I tire of the mobile YouTube website.

Planetary to listen to music in style.

Got tired of tunein radio pro eating up storage space, plus I didn't really need all those features. So I got Tunemark, which isn't as good, but suits my requirements.

GoodReader and PDF Expert for all my PDF reading needs.

Kindle for those sweet sweet amazon ebooks.

Math Ref because I need to do some light math sometimes.

WebDAV Nav has a confusing GUI, but eh, whatever works. Does what its name implies.

DisplayLink & Splashtop let you use the iPad as monitor or allow remote desktop access, respectively. Works flawlessly.

IPrinter to turn the iPad into a Printer. Easy way to send over documents and convert them to PDF at the same time.

MiCal HD because it's a bit better than iCal for what I need.

m's dictionary for my offline dictionary needs, useless for non-Germans, but hey, you never know.

Photogene, Snapseed, Photoforge 2, and a bunch of other image editors.

Aceplayer and the now defunct Gplayer for "unsupported" media. Apple.  :-\

Easy QR for QR code scanning/generating. Crappy iPad 2 camera is my enemy.

KitchenPad, because my timer needs to be obnoxious to set up and ... Dunno, really. I like it for some reason.

Appshopper to keep tabs on which apps are discounted and stuff. Also AppZapper HD, but that one's inferior.

DuckDuckGo because I'm a rebel and shit.

Skobbler 2, worst name for a Navi app ever. Openstreetmaps only, but cheap, and offline.

Vydia:

circuit coder (you will probably hate this)
Cradle of Rome (match those jewels! Match them good or you'll get the whip!)
Spirits (Lemmings)
Hexapper (Minesweeper on a ball)
DropZap 1&2 (minimalistic Tetris-y puzzler that's hard to describe)
Math Matrix HD (maths as basis for a game, what could possibly go wrong?)
Time Garden (I like matching games)
Where's my Water & Feed me Oil (physics puzzles, get liquids to the target)
Beyond Ynth HD because the main menu music is just too awesome
Giana Sisters, league of Evil 1&2, mos speedrun, ...also shantae but don't get that, it's a rather loveless port (Jump'n'Run games)
King Cashing (Las Vegas meets RPG)
Infinight (Survival Horror, kind of)
Spider: Bryce Manor HD (You are a spider. Eat insects. Explore.)
4Towers, Creeps HD and many others (Tower Defense)
Jet pack Joyride, Robosurf, Sea Stars (pres butan to fly, durr)
Dark Dot (conquer the world as a dark dot. Squeak menacingly.)
Also others, but I'm losing interestOOOOOH A SQUIRREL

This thread has made me realise I use a lot of Aus specific apps, besides TuneIn Radio and Appshopper.

Downcast is good if you want to get some podcasts on the go. Couldn't live without NBA.tv now, and the Steam app is nice. I need to move outside my comfort zone I think

Carcassonne is more legible, and hence more playable, on iPad.

It's still Carcassonne, though.  :(

Would kill for a good Power Grid app.  Hell, I'd even settle for a decent Cataan app.

yo Corporal:

Does iPrinter need a desktop client installed at all? Or can you print with just iPad -> printer? There are a ton of print apps and i am so confuse. Ideally I want one that will just print over wifi direct from iPad to printer, but if I need to go via a Mac (that has the relevant printer drivers installed...), I can do that. The range of pricing on these apps is all over the place as well.

There is a Catan app that gets good reviews but it's only local multiplayer.

I've always loved Catan more than Carcassonne :(

hmm, iPrinter is a whole different thing than I thought. But still potentially very useful for me.
