I could not connect to my Wi-Fi spot cause I have MAC filtering. How to find iPad's MAC address? Go to "About" in General Settings. You cannot go anywhere before first time configuration. Which requires either iTunes or WiFi.

I connected it to my PC, downloaded iTunes for that PC, launched and "unlocked" the iPad.

So far so good. YT app works, Safari is way cool, photos are taken instantly - even faster than on my camera. Too bad no flash. It's kind of heavy, though.

I will have to get used to it. After 16 years of using devices with left and right click enabled mice it's kind of hard to go to a one-click touch only device.

In about 6 months you'll stumble on multi-touch gestures and there will be a MIND BLOWN post

Apparently there's a bug in the Polish version of iOS which affects quote-tags.

Do you need a case for like protection or for something else?

There are some cool cases that let you make it stand or have a keyboard attached. But other than an otter box, nothing will prevent more than slight cosmetic damage.

You might want to consider bending over and buying an Apple Care warranty if you're worried about dropping it.
