The facts:
You can't stop terrorism.
Terrorism kills very very very very few people in America, even pre-9/11.
My observation is that:
There's no point for people to stress about it, since they'll most likely die in another way that they seem to have no interest in rectifying because it doesn't involve media theatrics, fear of the other, and ideological conflict. That does NOT suggest that we just open our borders and present our ass to crazies both internal and external, but that we handle it relative to the level of REAL PLAUSIBLE THREAT it presents instead of, oh, say, invading sovereign nations on false pretenses, stripping away civil rights and protections, and generally creating a false sense of threat grossly out of proportion with reality.
And: I've insinuated nothing about *you* outside of you being deliberately disingenuous and silly because you hate losing an argument. I *am* pointing out that when we have theatrical bullshit like ORANGE ALERT, the public starts to be more receptive to measures like the removal of legal protections and the surveillance of citizens, despite the threat of terrorist harm being amazingly low.
