No, this is why you develop a decent search function in your website. Even myspace was light years beyond Facebook's. And that's sad.

It does. Put your family in their own category. put your friends in their own category. when you make an offensive post set it to Friends. If you want to make a catchall post, set it to all

I suppose in the <1% chance that nothing is made private on someone's page.

I don't think it has anything to do with stalker behavior and more to do with a shitty search functionality.

What makes it even harder is people not using their middle name instead of a last name, or just using a semi-fake name in general to "hide" from schools and jobs they are applying for

You can also make yourself 'invisible' to the search. If someone doesn't want to be found via search they won't show up.

This is where google can come in handy.

ya search function sucks! you should be able to search people with some sort of advanced search. Where you can put in name, town, schools, etc.

You can, but it doesn't work that well.

Search a person's name and when the big list comes up there is a box at the top where you can enter a city or region. Doesn't work that well, plus people can opt out of the search too if they don't want to be found.
