Its either the magical thinking, or the idea that God cares about a dumb marathon

I'm bothered by people who say that God will tell them what to do with every decision in their lives. You were given free will, make your own damn decisions.

Eh, religious people think God is looking out for them. I used to think it was silly, but over time? Meh... whatever works for 'em.

Why pray for an agility boost when you could pray for invulnerability instead? Or better yet, water mage powers to sweep your opponents away

I'm typically cool with it, but this one thing has always bugged the crap out of me. I remember asking friends in high school what college they were going to, and they'd respond with "I'm not sure, God hasn't told me yet."

It's weird. I'll give you that. However, I'm never really quite sure as to whether or not people think that God is directly intervening/talking to them personally, or if their faith is just of that generic "everything good that happens is thanks to God's grace" type. I've picked up more and more over time that -- the super devout aside -- most people just kind of adhere to the latter.

Lets just say I dont trust people that depend on god to tell them what to do. Its a short step from having a voice in your head.

Asking for help and strength in tough and demanding times is the most typical time for a believer to pray.

If this is bugging you, I'm not sure how you can claim to be tolerant.

I'm all for bashing religion and their crazys when they do stupid shit. But I'm sure I'd be praying to god 13 miles into a run when some lady has already had a heart attack

Even though most religions emphasize free will, very few people actually want to think beyond what "god tells them".

I was in Houston last year (before summer) and the weather was great. Nice and windy. Apparently it gets horrible in the summer and fall lol

Don't have much of a problem with people using their religious belief as a reserve of willpower (which seems to be at the core of AA and groups like it).

Bothers me a lot more in team sports where say, a Tim Tebow might thank God before mentioning his O-line, who are all just took a beating to carry his sorry ass.

This.  And last year there was a drought so humidity was unseasonably low.
