Nope. No thanks, I played Black Ops (the only CoD I ever played)  had enough of this forever.

No, it was one of the shittiest campaigns in all of forever. Stupid Borys.

Based on past track record, the mp will be better and more balanced than the infinity ward game but the campaign will be weaker. Although I like that Treyarch aims to stick a better story in their games.

Looking forward to the MP. MW 3 was okay but I despised the maps and I'm already kind of over it. I just kinda don't like the way they balance their mp. I think treyarch does a good job of slowing the game down a bit and actively thinking about the balance stuff more.

Yeah, I actually thought the concept behind it was more interesting and fun than probably any other cod campaign.

the difference between treyarch and infinity ward (well, MW onward) is that treyarch realizes playing as richard nixon defending the pentagon from an undead nazi invasion is goofy fun, while infinity ward acts like they're above that kind of shit as they're simultaneously awarding you a pot-themed achievement for defending a burger king

I like the near future setting and I like Treyarch. It's all good.

The trailer airs tonight during the playoffs.

I trust Treyarch more than fake IW at this point. Although there is some good stuff in MW 3 they need to steal like support streaks.

How futuristic is this? like GRAW or Battlefield 2142 mechs and lasers?

I thought Black Ops was he worst CoD campaign but multiplayer was really good.  The wager matches were awesome.

I doubt it would be as far ahead as 2142. They most likely still want it to be relatable to normal people. We'll know tonight anyway after the trailer airs.

I'm reading the write up: http://www.giantbomb.com/news/lets-talk-about-the-future-of-call-of-duty/4120/

So a chunk of the game is 1980s and follows the Black Ops (1) characters.  The rest is 2025 and you're the son of Alex Mason (the guy from avatar, I think).  The horses are from Afghanistan in 1980s.

Campaign actually sounds pretty cool.  And it has stuff like ghost squad!

Quote
That part is also being addressed in a few ways, which means that Black Ops II will have a branching campaign with multiple outcomes--or at least varying shades of a similar outcome. It's hard to get a read on how different things will actually be in the final game. Some of these changes are extremely simple--for example, the Los Angeles mission has two on-screen icons at one point, allowing you to either rappel down from a broken freeway to help cover the President as she makes her way through an increasingly-hot battlefield or you can choose to stay up on the freeway and snipe as the rest of your crew covers her escape.

It's hard to judge any mp trailer because they are all about spectacle.

I can say that I thought MW 3 was the worst mp of all the cod games. The weapon damage was too high which encouraged a great deal of camping and lack of movement. You need to reward and design toward aggression in a cod game mp mode rather than the camping for killstreaks mentality that has damaged a lot of the cod games after cod 4.  I see some stuff to combat that like the x-ray scope and such but we'll see.

I think  Treyarch is far better than IW at this point so hopefully they take those lessons to heart.

http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/8/14/3239603/call-of-duty-black-ops-2-multiplayer-custom-classes-perks-scorestreaks
http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/8/14/3230713/call-of-duty-black-ops-2-esports-shoutcasting-league-play

Quote
Treyarch has scrubbed "absolutes" from perk design, Vonderhaar said, the hard and fast rules that make perks more difficult to balance. As an example, he detailed changes to the perk "Ghost" from the first Black Ops. Ghost's previous iteration made players undetectable by UAVs, infrared sensors, and sentries. In Black Ops 2, Ghost's benefits only apply while players are moving, a design change that hopes to prevent the perk from being exploited by campers.

Thank fucking god at the bolded. It's about time they started rewarding aggression and not passive play.

Quote
With Black Ops 2 Treyarch is embracing e-sports to a greater extent than any Call of Duty game. "We think there is a tremendous opportunity here to bring e-sports to the masses, and we think Call of Duty is the game to do it," Vonderhaar said.

Treyarch has introduced League Play, a skill-based matchmaking system that sorts players into divisions. It is hoped it will mean players of all skill levels can get something out of the game, traditionally inhospitable to newcomers. To rank up into a division, you'll need to win and win consistently, Vonderhaar said.

Complimenting this is Codcasting, a new system that lets shoutcasters "put a show together". Shoutcasters have a number of viewing options they can switch between, and more information is displayed in the UI, including the score panel and a large name plate on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Feeds include an overhead map view and a picture in picture view, which shows the action on the left and player information on the right. Shoutcasters can also tune in to the players themselves, listening to communication during a match.

But perhaps the most exciting new e-sports related feature is Live Streaming. This work-in progress system is designed to allow players to stream their games from within the game itself with the press of a single button. Vonderhaar showed a live game running on multiple iPads, suggesting we'll be able to watch matches from multiple devices.

There is little information on Live Streaming at present. There is room for players to use a USB camera to show themselves picture in picture. "You're going to need some decent upstream bandwidth," Vonderhaar added. "You do not need a high end PC. You do not need complex streaming software and hardware." More information will be revealed closer to launch.

I've bought and played all of them except WAW and in retrospect COD 4, and Black Ops are the good ones. Not that both of them don't have their annoying elements but MW 2 and MW 3 over-focused on the wrong elements in their mp.

Hopefully BO 2 can be added to that list.

I've switched back to Black Ops for my cod fix instead of MW 3 which I just can't tolerate outside of that Chaos Mode. I've noticed the population has increased for it recently also from back when I stopped playing it. Like I said its got its own flaws but I can tolerate those flaws more than the MW 3 flaws. Also it has the wager matches which are still incredibly fun.

That's surprising since I remember people being disappointed by Black Ops after MW2.  I assumed the general audience preferred the madness and speed of those games.

Yeah.  Treyarch understands how to make a quality multiplayer game.  What's happening with BO2 sounds neat and I'm considering it after skipping MW3 entirely.  Well, except for a Steam free weekend, where it seemed like a more chaotic MW2.  I think Infinity Ward (don't know about MW3) makes better campaigns and bonus modes.  Couldn't get into zombies, but arcade from CoD4 and spec ops in MW2 are pretty fun.

Are wager matches still in Black Ops 2? those were all I used to play before I stopped.  Always played them for fun; never for points.
