Civilization V: Gods and Kings
« on: May 11, 2012, 05:12:59 PM »
I remember it not being better than Civ IV and kinda limited in comparison. Have the expansions and what not made it a better game or should I stick with Civ IV?

Most of the hardcore did not like it as much as 4. It's a slightly simpler game. There is an expansion coming out soon anyway which adds some depth so some of that can't be answered right now until it releases.

Definitely just wait for the expansion. That's what I'm doing.

Yes, but the expansion should be phenomenal.

There were numerous Civ 5 sales on steam himu, you could get all the DLC for less than $10 most of the time. Half of it are just maps too, the actual Civs are the only things worth getting.

Civ5 got Steam Workshop support a few weeks ago too, so you can download like a million mods if it's not up to your standards.

It certainly makes it deeper. I can't wait to load it up when I get home. It's too hot to do anything outside anyway.

It had a built-in mod browser from the start, although it was and still is shitty. At least they finally patched it with this update so that enabled actually means enabled and doesn't mean "well maybe, try restarting and installing it again to see for sure."

NiGHTS is a pretty fun mod to play around with: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=399510

This for example is the policies screen:

Really looking forward to this but Diablo has taken up all my time so I wouldn't put any time in it.
