Not to mention, the entire Wings catalog is a crime against humanity. It's glaringly obvious that Paul needed John in order to write good songs; the reverse is in no way true.

BUT Wings had some good songs, Paul wrote a shit ton of great songs with the Beatles, etc. John's solo work is overrated imo

Paul doesn't suck-suck; he has an incredible ear, but a tendency to be unbearably corny. Most of the time it comes together remarkably well in spite of itself, occasionally it's a crime against the nature of sound.

Beatles-era, speaking, of course—I haven't ever been able to sit through a full album of Wings songs.

I still think it's indisputable that John's high water marks as a solo artist still blow away anything Paul has ever done. Also, not sure what these "good" Wings songs you speak of are.

I haven't heard much of Paul's solo stuff, admittedly, outside of the self titled album which is damn good

but in terms of wings come on, their first album is very good.

Lennon had a lot of really average stuff too. I'd argue Paul's solo work was more consistent but Lennon's had higher peaks (probably the same for Harrison too).

After listening to all the 2009 remasters, my hate for Paul drastically lessened. I still despise him as a songwriter in their later years, but you can't deny he wrote some great pop hits in their early years. Not to mention he might be one of the most underrated bassists in rock history. Seriously, listen to some of his riffs, they're fucking GREAT.

The bass in this one is really fucking good:

but you can't really beat Harrison later on in their work, in my opinion. Starting from the White album, he had my favorite singles by far:

Here Comes the Sun is probably my favorite all around Beatles song. Maybe a cutesy choice, but I just find it beautiful.
