correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the limitations with UE3 creating large (open world) environments? is there anything about correcting that for UE4?

If i recall correctly, it's a similar problem to the source engine in that it streams levels real shit. I havent heard anything about them "fixing" the engine for open worlds

UE3 games generally hide the loading better than Source.  Don't know if that's engine or developers.  Portal 2 loads were awkwardly placed.

Then the twist: Willard reveals that both the cinematic scene and the following tech demo haven’t been running off a game file but in real time from within UE4′s game editor. It’s like finding out that the actors on TV are actually tiny people living inside your set. It also helps him show that changes can be made to the game’s design and code, recompiled and executed nearly instantly—a technical feat that has been simply unheard-of in game development. And just like that, the silence in the room becomes reverent. The videogame industry has changed.

Looks kinda meh to be honest but sounds impressive on paper.

I think cryengine...4 (?, or 3, whatever the latest one is) does something similar.  Unity too.

Maybe I have to see it in action, but to me this really looks like "diminishing returns". Doesn't look nearly as great as the jump from UE2->3 was.

Looks worse than UE3, wtf

Those are some low ass textures everywhere.  Probably just bad screens/compression/looks better in motion.

UE3 has streaming locked down if you plan your game around it. You can run through a game beginning to end without seeing a single load screen if you do it right (Gears does this especially well).

It's hard to judge from screen shots.  I think this shot is going to look nuts in motion:

Well it doesn't look like something that is not achievable on PCs now... Wii U should be 10-20% more powerful than PS360 so maybe it will get some UE3.45 games.

It might be possible, but it's not going to look any where near as good as the PS4/720 versions. The iPhone can run UE3. Basically engine compatibility has more to do with feature set than raw power. Wii never got UE3 because it lacked the modern architecture. So Wii U could probably run UE4 if Epic and Nintendo wanted it to happen., but again it would look no where near as good. That's what ntards hope anyway.

UE4 is being engineered for the next round of consoles. Wii U is from the last round. The way it's engineered, it will not run on Wii U. There's just no way.

Yet it's looking like next-gen consoles are just going to be this gen consoles with a little more horsepower :\

The horsepower bump they'll have is still going to be significant despite diminishing returns on overall art. Xenos and RSX (and WiiU) are freaking ancient tech!

yeah, supposedly the demo was running on a single nvidia gtx680.  a while ago Epic said the Good Samaritan could run on a single kepler card (and before it was three 580s), so that's on the same level.

I doubt the next gen consoles will be anywhere near a gtx680 in power.  If that's what Epic wants, I don't think Sony or Microsoft will comply.  I may be wrong but the 680 is the most powerful single card available (I don't follow ATI much).

Not impressed by this engine so far tbh. There's some low-res texturing going on. That's unacceptable.

Microstuttering as a problem has be gone a long ass time.  It was really only an issue with the 8800s & 9800s.  From 280 GTX onwards, SLI was smooth 99% of the time.

I don't see a huge jump in regards to overall geometry/modeling (diminishing returns IMO) but the lighting, physics, fluid, and particle stuff is off the fucking chain. Nutty looking.

What about the art in TW2 do you dislike, exactly? I'm curious.

IMO for what it's trying to do (hard fantasy), TW2 nails it better than any other games I've seen.

Also: comparing TF2 and WoW to TW2 is kinda dumb. You may enjoy cartoony styles over realistic styles but they can't be put together side by side.

I'm a PC tard, motherfucker.

Come at me bro.

Team Fortress 2 looks better than The Witcher 2. Max Payne 3 looks better than The Witcher 2. World of fucking Warcraft looks better than The Witcher 2.

Fuck the gaming industry dumbfucks that think you can get away with shitty art as long as the engine is technically advanced.

Fuckity fuck fuck fuck fuck.

I rest my case.

Also: comparing TF2 and WoW to TW2 is kinda dumb. You may enjoy cartoony styles over realistic styles but they can't be put together side by side.

I'm not comparing. TF2 doesn't hurt my eyes, TW2 does. TF2 is better.

It doesn't help that I think Geralt is one of the ugliest motherfucking protagonists I have ever seen in a game. :lol

Shit opinion, is shit!
