Parents hour with Aunt Bundlejoy Cosysweet

(Excuse the facetious tone of the post title, but its just to throw my enemies of the scent.)

Ever since having our little one, the opportunities to go out and do grownup things at night has taken a serious bashing. My friday nights now usually consist of watching stuff, getting a bit high and drinking a bit of beer (I cant afford to burn the midnight oil as my days tend to start at around 5.30, and I sometimes work saturdays).

In no way shape or form am I complaining about this, my life is actually pretty sweet all things considered, but I just wonder how you guys deal with children, and doing stuff you, y'know, enjoy doing.

And dont worry Andrex, this topic includes gay adoption, which personally I think is great, although the children probably get a ton of shit about it at school. Which is obviously really unpleasant for all involved.

We've had four kid free outings thanks to parents and friends watching kiddo (3-months old now) , but we typically choose kid friendly places that we can take her to. 95% of breweries in Seattle are family friendly, and our little one has been to Fremont Brewing five times already. We're actually going this evening for their Seattle Beer Week Barrel Night event. Tomorrow night we're going to the drive-in to watch The Avengers with her.

Drink beer.

Play vidya.

If I'm gonna be stuck home, I may as well be doing something I enjoy.

The sitter problem isn't really an issue, it's just a combo-of knackeredness, and not living in a city any longer, although tbh I wouldn't want to bring a child up in the Urbs anyway, too much fast-food and dangerous shit.

Anyway, thanks Spencer and gang.

I'm totally psyched about raising a kid in the city, to be honest.

Fast food? Wha? Most everything around me in Seattle are local places. Fast food and the big chains are mostly a suburb thing.

Seattle is great, but you guys had some sort of rioting? I try and associate Seattle with Frasier and farm-shops, rather than sex-assaults and brutal beatings to death of good samaritans.

Like most people in Seattle, I don't live in the downtown business district. No riots near my house.

Down town business district sounds like an awful euphemism.

It's rough not getting to go out if you used to.  Similar to what Gundam said, I had to find family friendly places to go to a lot.  I will also throw out there that you should take advantage of loving relatives.  Let them keep the kiddo for a weekend and take the lady out somewhere nice, get a hotel, and sleep the entire time because you're too tired to have sex or go out.  :lol

What are the city schools like over there? Will you be going private or public?

Public all the way. If we lived in South Seattle I'm sure the wife would feel otherwise, but the schools in North Seattle are good.

I'm also a public school employee, so I'd feel weird sending her to private.
