I will try it, but i hate having to hit the enemy so many times, it takes 3 hits for killing a regular skeleton thrower.

Have you played a Castlevania game?  'Boring as fuck' is a staple of the series, especially the older-style ones.  They're just staying true to the roots.

The NES-style games are semi-competent nothings.  They were fun when you were nine.

Jacking off was fun when I was nine and it's still fun now.

I still play them.  They're great.  You just have shit taste.

They're boring, porridge-y platform games with perfunctory, by-the-numbers (even at the time) gameplay and poor staircase detection.  I love old games - but these days I can easily go back to shit like Wonder Boy in Monster Land/Black Tiger/arcade Rygar, but find the old CVs are just plodding, stiff and dull.  None of them are great but the former are better games from the same period.  CV games had great music though.

Ehn, can't account for some people.  Any other awesome old games you want to poop on while we're here?  You've already crapped on Daytona, Ridge Racer, and the old Castlevanias.  Maybe take a swing at Virtua Fighter 2?  Mega Man?  Streets of Rage 2?  Might as well let it all out.
Actually I think I have already bitched about all those games before here.  Except SoR2.  Which I think is a well-put-together game that's unusually fair and balanced for a beat em up (if a bit easy), but wasn't anything extraordinary other than owning the heavily qualified achievements of 'best console beat em up' and 'best beat em up ever for, like, two months'.

There didn't seem to be any sense of "danger" in that video presentation I watched - seemed the enemies were just kinda standing around while Trevor wailed on them for waaaay too long. Graphics did look pretty nice though, but I would take another dialed-in Metroidvania than this.

watched the footage of this... sigh...

so now a Nintendo machine can "do" 3D graphics, we can start shoveling the soil onto the 2D coffin then right? (it's already dead, just final send offs i guess)

I'd have even taken reused sprites and stuff....

Demands more power, moans about the decline of 2D games due to more power.

I'm more moaning about Konami going the 3D route for what is traditionally a 2D game because, i'd guess, the art assets are cheaper to produce in 3D than 2D.

You ever play Goonies 2? Great oldskool Metroidvania-esque game, I think I prefer it to Simon's Quest actually! (though it's just as obtuse)
