So what happened with S2 of Twin Peaks? I don't know much about the show, just that David Lynch is involved. Did he and other writers bail after the first season?

Lynch left somewhere near the beginning-half of the second season, due to network pressure to reveal the murderer.  I think Lynch never truly wanted to reveal the identity.

I'll have to get off my ass and watch the first season then. Right now I'm just trying to catch up with Mad Men, and re-watching Downton Abbey

I think Lynch lost control a bit and wasn't able to do what he wanted? And the show wasn't giving the proper run it needed to rap things up. With that said 'Fire Walk with Me' is an amazing film after seeing the series but it shouldn't be approached as a movie that answers series ending questions.

the shame about FWWM is that kyle maclaclin at first didn't want to do it then he changed his mind but the script was already written so all he gets is a cameo :fbm

and yeah, Lynch left at like half way through the season, but he still appears as a actor on it. He returned towards the end though thats why you get the serious plot holes of

major spoilers
spoiler (click to show/hide)
pete and aubrey being blown up in the bank and cooper getting possesd

but basically as soon as

is where you can see the network intertwining. I think i'm forgetting something major also

I watched Twin Peaks for the first time like two years ago. I'd heard everyone denounce season 2 for being too far removed tonally from season 1, but the first nine or so episodes of s2 were just as great as everything that preceded them, and the IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN scene to me felt like the apex of the whole series. I figured everyone was just wrong, but then I kept watching. Holy shit does it take a tumble real bad and real fast. The finale was basically an apology/act of creative terrorism though so I liked that a lot.

IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN is also the only time I ever liked a Dutch accent.

Twin Peaks season 1 is like something that never could have possibly been on tv except in a perfect storm of awesomeness and lax network oversight.

I still need to watch Twin Peaks. I watched Carnivale which had that little person actor. Still pissed that got cancelled too.

Dude... Really, it's awesome. Sometimes I'm just sitting and think about the awesome vibe of Twin Peaks. Let it wash over me.

I think I quit watching Twin Peaks after the killer was revealed.

Not really.

Marlo sounding off was amazing and the part where he walks to that street corner.
The ending shot with McNulty looking at Baltimore.
Bubbles finally getting to sit at the dinner table.
Michael whacking Snoop.
Cheese getting offed.
All the kids from season 4 turning into the same characters we've already learned to love such as Mike:Omar.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

I'm glad Season 2 is getting a lot more props.  For the longest time, people would cite it as the weakest season.  I thought it was one of the best, if not the best.

Also loved Season 2. You get the best of McNulty too. In my recent rewatch though I really appreciated Season 4 which I initially thought as the weakest of all the Seasons.

I didn't care a whole lot for season 4, mostly because they kept shoehorning in the Trials and Tribulations of Jimmy McNulty, who was becoming a really grating character that fucked up the flow of the progression of the season.

Isn't season.4 the season where McNulty gets his shit together, lives with his girlfriend, and is finally SATISFIED with his life and station and profession?

I think he means season 5 which has the brunt of Jimmy's antics coming to a head.

No, I meant season 4 and yes, the "McNulty is trying to settle down" side story was what I was referring to.

I didn't care much for what he did in season 5 but there are so many problems with that season that it didn't stick out in my mind quite like it did in the fourth season.
