Guess who has two thumbs and hung out with Shaka and Positive Touch today? This girl right here!

My husband, a friend of ours, Miss Evey, and I met up with them at the Festival of Nations! We ate delicious food from all different countries, although I did get some pulled pork too. I can't resist a black woman trying to feed me delicious pork.  :-* Got a beef skewer from some Filipinos. Dat meat on a stick :drool Bought some cute Indian and Chinese keepsakes for the baby. Now I'm full and ready for a nap.

I tried food from the Caribbean, Filipino, Turkish, native American, Bosnian, Hawaiian and  Afghani stands. And if The crowd and parking weren't as bad I'd come tomorrow and try more food. It was awesome seeing you peeps. <3

Shit hit the fan over our meetup!

spoiler (click to show/hide)

The inlaws showed up at our house while we were all at the park. Didn't call first, nothing. Then she used it as a way to tell her friends we're keeping the baby from her and whatever. So we see a FB comment from their friends about how they can't believe "some people" can be so mean to their family and parents "blood related or not." Let's just roll out our Jump to Conclusions mat and assume she's talking about my adopted husband. So I, being the complete bitch that I am, agree with her and mention how we've had family fall off the face of the earth since the baby was born. So she messages me asking how things are going. OBVIOUS PROBES. But before I could respond and tell her our side of the story, her MIL (the one running her mouth at the baby shower and asking for leftovers at my wedding), messages my husband to tell us how awful we are, we're so mean, keeping that baby away, no manners, etc. YOU DO KNOW THAT THEY ADOPTED YOU RIGHT?! THEY CHOSE YOU! Yes, because a cute little baby boy would've sat in an adoption agency his whole life if it weren't for them.  ::)

So I made a beautiful little FB post publicly pointing out how they've failed as grandparents, and then I tagged my husband in it so everyone on his and my friends list could see it. This was at the same time he called his dad, who apparently had no idea she was saying all this shit.

I'm not one for drama, obviously considering we've let this go on for years out of respect for them and to keep them in our life. But god damn does it feel good to get it off my chest. We have a lot of family we really like on his side, and we've been worried that they hear these lies and think poorly of us. They're all very nice people, so they'd probably never say anything, but we use FB to keep up with them due to distance. If they hate us for publically shaming his parents, then so be it. I just want people to think twice before believing this bullshit.

You sound to be in good spirits overall but I'd imagine this is quite depressing in a way. I hope this type of public shaming is what it takes to make your in-laws realize you don't hate them or mistreat them, you just want to be treated like family should be treated.

It is depressing! My parents see her every day, and they see how she changes so often. Big smiles, playing with her toys, everything. His parents are missing out on everything, all because she refuses to be nice. I seriously feel like we're dealing with a bratty kid, but she's a grown woman.

Oh well, now it's all out in the open. God only knows how many people she was talking shit on us to, but she even lied to our best friends about some shit. It only seems appropriate to lay it all out for anyone interested.

Update: some of his family we didn't want to offend responded. Apparently they deal with the same thing with others in the family.

I basically told everything that has happened since she's been born, and touched on the pregnancy. I dare anyone to question why we haven't called or seen them. So far it's the same response I got here - don't put up with it and cut them loose. Sounds pretty appealing right now.

I eagerly await the day when we find out that MIL gets caught breaking and entering through a window, forcing Lennedsay to call the cops on her.

And she gets carried away by the police in handcuffs, all the while screaming "I know my rights as a grandmother!"

One good thing about them not coming around is that they wouldn't be able to win if they sued for visitation rights. From what I've researched, you have to have a pre-existing relationship with the child, and also, the parents either have to be split up or one parent deceased. It's sad that I even have to look that up. :lol Guess what the law doesn't say? That grandparents have a right to show up at the hospital after visiting hours are over. She should fire her legal advisor!

Still have heard nothing from them! Not surprising lol

My dad's activity is getting out of hand. Now he's dogging my friends and their comments. A friend was joking about professors and grading on performance *wink* and how he's commenting on RANDOM updates asking about "What did Mister Dyson mean by his comment?!" (then liking his own comments). This is the problem with adding an ex school/college dean to my FB, he's trying to moderate the place like school hallways. :lol

tehjaybo made a big map with a bunch of people's locations a few years back but I don't see anyone from Germany: http://www.thebore.com/forum/index.php?topic=34808.0

There's a handful of people in neighbouring countries though.

Seasonal bump!

Shaka had some quality time with the Seattle shatpack last night. Prole, Gundam, and the elusive Whitey were there. Recursive was out of town, and MAF bailed at the last minute. :maf

What can I say, I had fun and can totally see myself spending the rest of my life with them. I still find meeting online peeps pretty amusing-- it takes you a minute to process what what's going on ("you guys were there, and now you're here!"), but then you pick things up right where you left off.

And thanks to the complications of the Wii U's launch, Prole was radiating with fervor. It was contagious.

This city is charming, bad weather and all. Thanks for the fun night, guys.
