My first 8 hours of Motorbike lessons
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:30:07 AM »
Damn I never though riding a bike would be so complicated. Clutch in / out, fuckin gears this and that hold it half way release it slowly push throttle in  :dur :dur :dur

8 hours later and I still feel like a noob. Tommorow the dude is taking me on the road in Dublin. I'm gonna die. Everytime I have to something new I feel like I forgot how to do what I was already doing right.

JAYSUS. This is gonna take years not a 16 hours course.

Bike I'm on is pretty sweet though, 250 Honda CBF. Feels so good when you push it into 2/3rd gear.... grrrrr sex

Sexy bike.

I'd like to learn someday, but I don't know if I would ride one regularly. I wouldn't trust other drivers to be careful enough not to hit me.

I'm not worried about that, I have good situational awareness.  I'm just worried about getting all the technical stuff down since that keeps me from looking around me.

Maaaaan it feels so good to sit on a bike. Shiiiit. Its a super sunny day and I felt like the king of the world doing 8's on the parking lot. Girls in short skirts walking by booyah.

I never rode a car  :dur

I thought shit was gonna be more streamlined, I really don't know why shit like this can't be automatic.

I hope so  :-[

It's not the knowing when to do it, it's the actual doing of stuff in succession that's a problem after these few hours.

Ok I'll be hitting the road in a few mins. God bless.

Inside every European there's an American trying to come out man.

It's a wet clutch anyway, you don't even need to use it.

But my UK instructor gets all sad then.

He just said that he's never driven a car.

If he's pretending to be an American, he's doing a pretty shitty job of it...

edit:  also, I second Biz' disdain.

I never needed a car cause the Netherlands are blessed with amazing public transport and students get a free public transport pass.

Today went great btw, drove up and down hills, along the seaside, on a big road. Except for a couple of hiccups it was smooth and as from today I am allowed to drive :rock

Today I rode a Honda Rebel 250, much smoother ride then the CBF due to the engine. Felt a bit more wobbly driving it though.

What's her argument? Would she hop on for a ride?

You already have a license?
