The Zelda Timeline... the stupidest thing in gaming nerdom?

I don't know if I can handle all the people attempting to explain or rationalize continuity between the games.  I find I enjoy them more if I just accept them as separate entitites unless there's continuity noted (Like OoT -> MM -> TWW).

The Zelda games are like the James Bond films, same characters, loosely familar plot, but with different locations, and different twists thrown in.

Don't try to link them it doesn't work.

Nah, The Wind Waker also makes direct references to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.  It's pretty much understood that it takes place sometime in the future.

Nintendo doesn't care so why should dumb N-things? Miyamoto has said before that he doesn't go into Zelda game development thinking about how it'll fit with the other games - he doesn't give a shit.

Granted, Twilight Princess and WW both are connected to OOT, but this isn't much of a suprise considering that game's huge influence on gaming (and financial success)
