Kind of want to take a short vacation this weekend.  Haven't been out of town for about 6-7 months since I hung out with Mr. Gundam.  Anyone down for hanging out, showing an internet buddy around town?  Looking for some scenic stuff; fields, lakes, etc... and maybe somewhere where it's not melting alive humidity.  Want to get out of California, go somewhere new!

Flight prices are kind of high right now.  Maybe looking for plane tickets when gas prices are at an all time high was not a good idea.  Might need to go road trippin instead.

Looks like this is true.  When I went from this weekend to a weekend a month from now, direct flights to Brandnew went from $840 to $480 roundtrip.  Shoot.

Why don't you just buy someone a roundtrip ticket to Vegas while you drive there?  It won't cost much and you'll have a fun weekend for sure.

I live in Sunnyvale just a block away from Apple's infinity loop. I usually go fishing elsewhere as there isn't a place to fish locally.

What do you fish for saltwater, freshwater? I'm thinking about going for saltwater as the halibut have been seen around. But up a few miles north of the bay I heard they got wild salmon in some of the streams. I just don't know if driving a 100 miles for a catch is worth it, as I don't eat the fish I just donate it to my local soup kitchen.

I've been to Toronto plenty of times (went to college about an hour and a half away) and Vancouver once before, and Montreal doesn't seem too far from NYC... would be a nice trip for a 3-day weekend... techno, Mojo, and slutty French chicks sound like a fun place to me!

Actually, I haven't been for about 15 years.  Was talking to a friend the other day about how it'd be nice to go out fishing again, since it's pretty nostalgic at this point (used to walk down to a dirty little lake with my neighbors, crawl under the barb fence, and fish for fun all the time).  So we decided to go out fishing soon.  Gonna have to rent some gear since I've got nothing at this point.  Will probably go to a lake and fish there.  Could fish at a pier on the beach, but I'd probably hook some kid swimming in the water >_<

  almost same thing with me. I haven't been fishing in years but ended up catching the bug to do it again after a long time. Don't go out without a day license though, they will catch you and its not a cheap fine. I ended up buying my year license, a good reel with nice action won't run you too terribly much. I got all my gear for under $30 at big5. You should definitely go fishing though its a great way to clear one's mind of troubles and allow you some "me time."

Ended up spending trip money on a new couch.  Gotta stick around this weekend to catch the delivery.  Have a lot of work to do after all, so probably need to work the weekend anyhow.  If I plan ahead though, I should be able to fly somewhere there is a borio at a decent price.
