Wii U is going to get some of the top multiplatform games for about a year or so until the next gen consoles release.  It'll then be a previous gen console.  It also seems to lack support from EA Sports, just like the Dreamcast.  It doesn't seem to have any great standout 3rd party exclusives on the way like Dreamcast did from Namco and Capcom.  Oh and Dreamcast had a screen on its controller too.

Nintendo is in command of a vast zombie horde, something Sega never had.  They'll keep this garbage boat afloat.

Dreamcast will be better, but Wii U will probably sell better. I'm sure there are a bunch of casuals who will buy it just because it's the next Wii.

Yeah Wii U could sell better just due to the population increase from 1999 to now.

Hasn't most of the casual audience moved on to ios stuff? I doubt they'll be able to capture that market en masse quite as much as they did last time. That said kids/family has always been their main audience so trying to sell to them isn't that shocking. Excitement level = 0

N64 did better than the DC and if N64 can do it, Wii U can do it.  It's hard to be worse than the N64.

I'm really surprised by the absence of EA support/launch games considering they looked buddy-buddy last year, to the point of assuming they'll have free reign in implementing Origins in the platform.

The N64 came after NES and SNES. Nintendo had a lot of goodwill back then.

- No UE4 support
- Third parties being bullish again, with the one third party who gives a shit already contemplating on how to port their Wii U games to iOS and Android
- Threat of uber powerful platforms looming
- Consumer confusion due to the name, and products like uDraw being on the market

Smells like a recipe for disaster, but knowing Nintendo they'll somehow sell 100 million units.

I disagree.  There is always a dedicated fanbase towards Nintendo that allows them to carry the console through its expected lifetime.  The Gamecube is an example of this.  So given how the Gamecube sold 20 million units or so, I think the Wii U is guaranteed at least that amount.

Oh lol that shit. I remember when it was all rumored that Valve and EA were behind this platform's online strategy. Yeah, no.

So long as there's the Andrexes of the world, Nintendo will keep on keeping on.  Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.

Huh? They wish they had something to do with it. Did you see the social networking capability? I know you're firmly aligned with Sony, but you're going to be missing out. If you got a Wii U, when you logged onto play Mario, you could get feedback on the world map like "Hey taco, I just beat level 1-4 while fucking your mom" sent to you by assholes on the internet. That's going to completely change the way you think about how a mascot platformer should play.

And by assholes on the internet, I'm of course referring to myself.

I think the biggest problem for wiiu will be the brand. Like the 3ds, it looks too much like a new version or additional controller.

At least it hasn't outsold the PS2. And it won't now that the PS2 is being sold to Diunx's people.

CNN can attest to that. Of course it doesn't help that there's tablet controllers for Wii, the most marketed and best selling being Wii's uDraw tablet from THQ. Luckily for Nintendo THQ probably won't exist by the time Wii U is out.
