Probably took 5 years to make.

Uses Luminous Engine.

Targeted for next gen Square Enix actually set aside a team to make this engine. The tech demo was made in partnership with their CG studio so one has to question how much of it is real-time...

Sure edit in info after I've already posted. Square won't have a FF for next gen until 3-4 years after they hit anyway.

lol tech demo for what? Devs are pretty blatantly sick of current gen tech.

You make it sound like Square Enix Japan has actually had the chance to get sick of current gen tech.

Sure edit in info after I've already posted. Square won't have a FF for next gen until 3-4 years after they hit anyway.

The time stamp on my edit is before the time stamp on your post.  ;)

Even S-E is making games where you fight Arabs in the desert now? Pathetic. :fbm

Real talk though:  Character models like that girl next-gen would be pretty nice.  Would feel like a generational leap just by having GOOD HAIR NEXT-GEN and slightly better face models, clothing physics.

It did look pretty distinguished mentally-challenged.

A bunch of mages are being attacked by guerrillas with guns. Somehow the guerrillas have a serum that can make wolves gigantic and hulking, with spikes bursting from their backs. Then a giant magical beast breaks free and saves our fair maiden!

These elements aren't random at ALL - no sir!

WTF are you smoking. It looked like a Blizzard CGI.

Put down your FF fan license, dude cause you pretty much lost it.

So it looked like Blizzard CGI and that's a reason to hype it? Gamers are weird.

Fact: Versus is not even close to release, we haven't seen it in months. It has been in shop for 6 years. Mull over that fact in your head.

Query: Considering S-E's current footing on modern technology, image how long something like Agni would take to develop?

Fact: Aside from XIV, and unless you're willing to COUNT XIII-2, we have had one main series offline title this current generation and this generation is ending.

Keep your blizzard CGI and fan license. Final Fantasy is dead.

From Edge magazine

Quote
Square Enix’s Agni’s Philosophy tech demo turned a lot of heads when it was revealed at E3 last month. This brief glimpse of what the future holds for the company’s long running Final Fantasy series ( among other projects ) isn’t only impressive visually but may also be a technical challenge for future consoles.

In the newest issue of Edge Magazine, Creative Director and Senior Manager Takeshi Nozue mentioned that the Agni’s Philosophy real-time tech demo, running on the Nvidia’s GTX 680, was a challenge due to the amount of RAM available.

“Memory size is the biggest challenge,” Nozue stated.

“The texture quality in the Agni’s Philosophy demo is an enormous drain and it’s clear that the next-generation consoles will have to carry a fat wedge of RAM if they’re to support Square’s tech,” Edge elaborated.

This gen developers ran into issues due to the amount of memory available for the PlayStation 3, something Sony addressed with the PS Vita. But what about the PS4 and 360?

While both Sony and Microsoft remain quiet about their respective new hardware, a developer ( who wished to remain anonymous ) told the publication that the non-gaming functionality for Microsoft’s next XBox will take up a “hefty amount” of the system’s memory leaving an undisclosed amount left over for gaming.

Whether this is true or not remains to be confirmed. However, Square Enix is confident that hardware makers will ”come to a level of quality that will support” the visuals shown in the tech demo.

http://thesilentchief.com/2012/07/04/ps4-360-will-need-plenty-of-ram-to-meet-square-enixs-standard/

Direct Edge quote

Quote
Outside of the Agni's Philosophy demo, we were told by a developer [who wishes to remain anonymous] that Microsoft's 360 successor will draw upon a "very large" amount of memory, albeit with a hefty amount given over to the console's non-gaming functionality.

That goes with the rumors about 8GB RAM in next xbox(2-3 GB for OS)

Uh ... or else when they finally get around to making an actual game they'll just spec the texture quality to work for whatever amount of RAM is available on the target hardware? I'm not sure why able to handle this particular demo as is = "able to support Square's tech"
