FFX was where I got off. Whatever good qualities that game may have, I couldn't get past the horrible characters/story.

Why not just take it literally. FF13-3 will be available exclusively for Windows XP (as the Crystal engine is heavily dependent on direct access to privileged registry keys, and besides nobody in Square Enix Japan has a Windows 7 PC available for testing) and star Lightning and Batman in a crossover with the Arkham series (didn't SE publish them in Japan?) as they fight Catwoman and Penguin in their new hideout on the moon. It will feature the return of the card games a la FF8/9, this time made central to the gameplay.

Lionheart was pretty impressive at the time. You could get 17 hits X 9999dmg plus 7 additional hits in total of 240K damage.

Anyway, maybe their hints, and the hints it won't be called XIII-3, are suggesting it's some kind of action-adventure game (maybe a Batman Arkham wannabe!) where you play as Lightning (on Cocoon!), rather than another RPG sequel? That might actually be better, tbh. As long as they keep the same music composers (and resist the temptation to just recycle all the music from -1 and -2)

With Lightning as the only playable character, players will have unparalleled control over customizing her looks and combat style. The battle system itself, a greatly modified version of the previous two, will feature real-time elements including direct control of Lightning's movement and her attacks, as well as time-based moves that drain the doomsday counter. Lightning Returns will also include a real-time block system, designed to make battles much more active and time-based. Even dying mid-battle will activate a prompt to give players the choice to rewind their mistakes at the expense of the timer.

Lightning Returns was announced at today’s Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event, which Square Enix has been teasing since last month. In early July, Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama hinted at the project, which entered production at the beginning of August, followed shortly by a teaser site.

Square Enix confirmed that Lightning Returns will be the final chapter of Lightning’s saga, which began in Final Fantasy XIII back in 2010. [Niro's Note: I can't help but noticed they said final Lightning game, not final FFXIII game, so if you're looking for more you might still be in luck!] Lightning’s sister Serah was the focus of Final Fantasy XIII-2, which hit stores earlier this year and received downloadable content that continued Lightning’s story.

I'm sorry, Square you are just making a damn video game and as much as I liked Light and FFXIII, she wasn't anything special. She was a decent character to engage with in this decent assemble, but she really wasn't that great on her own. All this talk of flowers and bullshit is stupid and it means nothing to me. I don't care about her return, she should have been in XIII-2. XIII-2 should have been it. I mean you almost had this decent story based on the premise of "hey their or consequences of your actions", then you fucked it up with time travel and whatever the fuck was in XIII-2. But I mean fine, you made a game to counter the critisims of XIII. Now please stop. As a big defender and fan of XIII, I don't want more.
