I don't understand how anyone can hate on a band with such top-tier musicianship and musical sensibilities as Muse, but this board never fails to surprise. I mean if Muse is gay, then I don't ever want to be straight. Microcuts >>> you.
And before you even start: They don't and never tried to copy either Radiohead or Coldplay. I'm sick of this argument. Muse tends to write more straightforward rock songs with virtuosic wankery and tons of heavy overdrive and bass, while Radiohead, aside from a few bangers like Just and Myxomatosis, goes for a more textured, layered sound (which they can do as a five-piece band). Coldplay is more similar to Radiohead, I guess, and Oasis is maybe similar to Bends-era Radiohead, except that I don't really think that either band influenced the other. Muse and Radiohead use pretty different chord palettes, and most of their melodies aren't really anything similar. Coldplay's melodies aren't like either of the two.
You need to sit down and actually try to learn a few songs by all of these bands (you play guitar, right?), and then you'll quickly see that they're nothing alike.
