As usual I spent way more than I intended to, but I knocked out some stuff on my list that had been there for a long while.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Deluxe
Assassin's Creed Revelations - Gold Edition
Total War: Shogun 2 - Blood Pack DLC (it was like 70 cents, shut up)
FEAR 3
Dead Island: Ryder White DLC  :yuck
Portal 2
Call of Juarez
Medieval II: Total War Gold
Rome: Total War Alexander

total somewhere around $41

Was gifted (and thanks again to everyone)

Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge
Trapped Dead
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Rush for Berlin: Gold Edition
Buccaneer: The Pursuit of Infamy
Fallout 3 - Game of the Year
Renegade Ops
Nation Red
Helldorado
Hamiltons Great Adventure
Heroes of Annihilated Empires
Krater
Hydrophobia: Prophecy
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
Hard Reset: Extended edition
Naval Warfare

Gifted a bunch of stuff. Steam wallet is tapped now, if I missed you I'll try to catch you during the winter sale.

For future reference, please don't feel obligated to gift back if I gift you something. I appreciate the thought, but I have enough games - more than I will likely ever get around to playing. My wishlist is just sort of there as a reminder to myself (and sometimes I just put stuff there I am thinking about gifting to someone else).

How is legend of Grimrock?
It's my GOTY so far. If you have fond memories of classics like Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder then it's a must-buy. The old school design of the combat isn't compatible with everyone though.

Chaos Theory is the best, mayne

Hmm, $6.70 for Chaos Theory, or $11.50 for the Conviction pack that includes the original, double agent, and Chaos Theory. Conviction is probably worth a quick blow through - any reason not to get the Power Pack?

I think Chaos Theory and the other old Splinter Cells have dropped to $2.50 before? Conviction bottomed out at $5 for the standard edition and I'm guessing the Splinter Cell Pack includes the version with DLC.

Yeah, basically the old Splinter Cells are 75% off ONLY if you buy them in the Conviction pack currently. If you buy them standalone they're only 33% off.

Conviction pack is shit.

Double Agent is trash, and Conviction isnt really a Splinter Cell.

Just buy the original and Chaos Theory. I wouldnt really even suggest Pandora Tomorrow (not included).

I'm curious about Conviction because of the weird way they project the UI around while you're playing - even if it's "not a Splinter Cell" I think I'll get my $5 worth.

Didn't realize it was the last day.  Bought a bunch of stuff on my wishlist to pair my wishlist down (aka anything under $6-7 on my wishlist gets bought).  End of sale purchases:

-Lone Survivor
-Titan Attacks!
-Lost Horizon
-Sonic CD
-Stacking*
-Alan Wake* & American Nightmare
-Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
-Ys Origin*
-Krater
-Red Faction Armageddon
-Dear Esther
-Q.U.B.E.
-Need for Speed Hot Pursuit*
-Max Payne 3**

*double dips
**was gifted from Borys

I didn't spend over $10 on anything, most purchases were <$5 so I'd guess I spent about $50-80 total.  Not a bad haul and my wishlist went from ~20 titles to 8.

Now am I going to play any of these before the winter sale?  hahahahaha....  :'(

I'd say so.  Chaos Theory is the one to play (3rd game of the series).  Really satisfying stealth and openness to missions.  Splinter Cell 1 is great but its levels aren't as open and its harsher about playing stealthily.  Pandora Tomorrow is even worse in that regard, and I never actually finished the single player of that game.  Double Agent isn't great.

I didn't mind Double Agent at the time but I can see it not holding up. I remember Pandora Tomorrow having some really shitty AI and instant fail detections that annoyed me.

Quote
Conviction is different type of game from those four.  It's closer to Batman Arkham action stealth.  It's less about sneaking around and completing a mission and more killing bad guys by surprise.

That's a good comparison, since you build up your combos by doing takedowns. It also feels a bit Rainbow Six in the way the levels and enemies are set up, in that the levels are designed to be a number of short set pieces with 3-4 enemies and you plan to take them down and move on. There are very few (if any) large open areas that you need to stealth your away around.

You can play it 100% stealthy and not kill or interact with most enemies, but it makes it incredibly hard if you do get detected so you're better off just killing them anyway.

I enjoyed Conviction, and if you don't expect it to be another Chaos Theory (what could be anyway, game is awesome) it's perfectly fine for $5.

:bow mamacint :bow2 Will return the favour now

My final list isn't too bad

Trine 2 *
Driver SF
Alan Wake Bundle *
Gratiutious Battle Pack *
Dear Esther & Soundtrack
Demolition Inc *
Tropico 4 bundle
Binding Of Isaac Bundle
Crusader Kings II + all DLC

* - gifted. Bore Xmas In July!
Nearly bit on Pro Cycling Manager 2012 for 50%, and was thinking about Anno 2070, but I can't justify spending $20 or more during this sale when I could buy a bunch of awesome indie games for the same price.

How much was Binary Domain when it was on sale?

Edit: Here is what I ended up with.

Bought for myself
A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda
Botanicula
Fortune Summoners: Secret of the Elemental Stone
From Dust
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Krater
Plants vs. Zombies
Samorost 2
Space Pirates and Zombies
Still Life
Still Life 2
Syberia
Syberia II
The Binding of Isaac: Wrath of the Lamb DLC
The Walking Dead
Thief Gold
Thief II: The Metal Age

Received as gifts
Magicka
Noitu Love 2 Devolution

Gifted to others

I purchased:
- Splinter Cell Echelon Edition (original trilogy + Conviction)
- Universe Sandbox
- Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box
- FarCry 2
- Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
- Botanicula
- Alan Wake + American Nightmare
- Thief: Deadly Shadows
- Stacking
- Metro 2033
- Wizorb
- Monkey Island 2 SE
- Ys Origin
- Trine 2

I was gifted:
- Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
- LA Noire
- Choplifter HD
- Hydrophobia: Prophecy

I gifted several copies each of:
- Thief Gold
- Wizorb
- Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

So far, I've finished Wizorb (about 6 hours) and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (about 5). I've also played enough American Nightmare to know it's worth finishing and enough Stacking to know it's not. Plus about 2 hours of Warhammer and the first mission of LA Noire. LA Noire is GARBAGE.

I'm going to finish up American Nightmare, try the baseline Alan Wake (I hear I won't like it , compared to AN), then move on to Botanicula. After that, I'll start a Splinter Cell adventure. Should I play Chaos Theory first, then Conviction? Or Conviction first, then Chaos Theory? I hear they're SUPER different games, so it doesn't really matter, probably...

Why would you play Conviction first for a Splinter Cell game?  Whyyy

Chaos Theory is a really good Metal Gear Solid without any story.  Definitely worth playing even if I think the SC franchise as a whole has a bit too much trial & error (Chaos Theory is the best though).
