http://kotaku.com/5925250/ultima-is-going-free+to+play-heres-how-it-just-might-work

Quote
According to Barnett, "It plays fast, it's clicky, but the combat's fluid and fun rather than tactical and mind-numbing. The character progression is soft with a smooth up ramp... You're going to get in conversation trees which are much more like you would get in Dragon Age."

Quote
"It's not 'energy,' it's not like a Facebook game," Barnett confirmed. "The entire game can be completed for free, although it would take you a long time. You can play it and play it and play it and play it, and enjoy it and enjoy it and enjoy it and enjoy it, and ultimately what will happen is you'll love it so much you'll go, 'you know what? I'm going to give you guys some cash.'"

The battle system sounds pretty deep, it lets players take on the role of a combat-focused Fighter or the spell-casting Mage!

Seems as good a use of the franchise as that F2P Zork game that came out before.

BioWare resurrects Ultima so they can murder it, thereby guaranteeing that "fresh feeling" when engaging in necrophilia

Is that the F2P Zork which was a text adventure in-browser, instead of a 404 page?

Nah, Legends of Zork,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legends_of_Zork

Was truly a shame to see it die.  I think there might have been a couple of vague Zork references, not that I bothered to waste my time signing up.

My friend trolled these guys at their Comic Con booth.

Him: "Where's Lord British?"

Tester showing off the game: "Lord British isn't in our game. He's gone missing."

Him: "Is he in space?"

They didn't get it.

So, this is basically a mediocre, simplistic, F2P Diablo-ripoff designed for people too young to even know about Ultima and Lord British? What is even the point?
