Quote
The special — titled Browncoats Unite — will include footage from Friday’s reunion panel, featuring several members of the original team including star Nathan Fillion and creator Joss Whedon. Plus, the cast is shooting an in-depth behind-the-scenes roundtable interview that will dive deeper into burning fan questions about the beloved series. Both the panel and the roundtable will be moderated by Entertainment Weekly‘s own Jeff Jensen.

People were still asking a ton of questions about Shepherd Book until the comic came out just a few months ago.  There were a lot of back stories that didn't get played out, as well as plot developments that didn't get finished.

"What happened with the Tams in the end?"
"Does Mal ever get the girl?"
"What happened to the men from Blue Sun Corp.?"

Joss Whedon writes a pretty involved story-line whenever he makes a show, and his fans are easily attached.  Look at Buffy the Vampire Slayer; it went from a kinda-meh movie to an awesome show.

The way I understand it (or the way I suppose it is) is a combination of two things:

(1) Joss Whedon really loved that show and was very hurt and put out with the way that Fox handled it.  I think he kept his hopes up, like many of the fans did, that one day the show would air again and he would be able to finish the story.

(2) A lot of the story is being finished through the comic books now.  Granted, it's not the way the fans preferred to get it, but it's still a way.  The process is just longer.

doesn't discount the fact that he's overrated.  In fact, i'd say it kind of helps.

So I watched this the other day and it was everything I could hope for.  There was a huge spoiler dropped about one of the characters on the show too which I found extremely interesting and sad all at the same time.

The thing is the show is over.  There are no questions left to answer, because there can never be an answer to them.  It's done, get over it.

As I said earlier, the show is over, but the story is not.  Currently, the story-line is being continued through a comic series produced by Dark Horse.

I love the show, but I'm not one of these fanboys that goes out and writes my own fan-fiction or anything.  I just think it's a good story.

This show was on for three months 10 years ago. Then had a movie seven years ago. What questions could people still have?

That and the show and movie were mediocre at best.

is firefly an allergory for the rise of nazism?

it's a shame that you have to hide behind the veil of a campy space serial to tell the whole story.

On the special or just in general?  Apparently, Morena Baccarin found out herself directly from Whedon a couple of years ago and let it drop at a private party at Dragoncon 2010, but it's never been officially announced before this show.

It's just amazing that Joss figured out how to kill a character without stabbing them through the heart.
