Jesus Christ, I had been thinking about getting a PS3 to use as a bluray player, but fuck that idea now.  I'd have to burn it in the backyard if I had gone through with that plan.

also, this thread title is probably gonna drive Eel over the deep end.

The title really surprised me when I read it. I thought they had suddenly cut the Vita price and were offering the PS1 titles as a face-saving measure. Would be the first step on the way to recovery at least...

PS3 is decent enough now, as far as consoles go. Free online MP, all the various video stuff like Netflix and Hulu, etc. PS+ is good now that you get a fuckton of free full PS3 games. I just ignore stupid shit like this "app."

I don't own a Vita anymore, totally sold that and all the games/memcard/grips to an acquaintance earlier this week :lol  Like I've said, I've never been that attached to any kind of gadget (except for that first iPad, I really hated having to sell that), they tend to pass through my hands fairly quickly. It just pissed me off that I finally learned firsthand what a bunch of incompetent fucktards Sony are. I'm sure I'll own another at some point, whenever the game library picks back up and the price drops suitably enough for me.

Guess what I bought with that Vita money, though?

First off, I salute you for selling your Vita. I wish I had the balls to do so.

Secondly, you didn't replace your New iPad with the Nexus now, did you?

Thirdly, lol @ hey Andrex.

No, but I am so paranoid about fucking up that iPad that it is rarely going to leave the house. The Nexus will be my "toting around" device, iPad is the home tablet.

You should sell the iPad and get another two N7's.

Mine's waiting for me home in Boston. :( I will be able to embrace it for the first time on Monday.

I still like my iPad better. Better screen, more tablet-specific apps (don't believe that stuff about phone apps looking okay on a 7" screen, they look like dogshit), I can type better on it. With Jelly Bean Google is most definitely stepping up their game, though. Except for that fucking soft key bar you can't make go away without rooting. They refuse to let that shit go even though it is hella stupid.

I'm fairly sure with how gesture-y the system is they're working on it, it's fairly obvious they weren't entirely done with the nav bar when they launched ICS but it's pretty good.

Really though it seems like it's an abnormally large pet peeve for you, in any case.

It unnecessarily eats up valuable screen space, adds extra bezel you have to hump your thumbs over,  and there are about a half dozen ways I can think of off the top of my head that it could have been implemented better.  A Tablet is all about the screen,  the dumbest thing you can do is permanently take part of it away.

It's at the bottom of the screenshot I took.  It never goes away, although the buttons will fade depending on the app.

It's basically an extension of the concept of the status bar. Aside from that, having it on screens means they can change it as necessary (like changing Back to a down caret when the keyboard's open.)

I've never owned an Android before, so can someone link me to a youtube of said bar?

Oh wow, I've always thought those were physical keys. I guess that's the look/concept they were looking for.

Oh wow, I've always thought those were physical keys. I guess that's the look/concept they were looking for.

Aesthetically they're pretty kickass on my Galaxy Nexus. There's no buttons whatsoever and the front when off looks like this awesome 2000-esque slab. When on, thanks to OLED they usually blend into the bezel too, giving that appearance that they're part  of the phone not the screen.

What's weird about the N7 is that it uses the phone UI, not the tablet one. The tablet UI could have saved some space since it combines the notification bar and the nav keys:

Also what's weird is they always are on the bottom, even in landscape. Wheres my GN in landscape keeps the nav bar in the same place.
