Philip Glass, Christopher Tin, Yo Yo Ma, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Kaija Saariaho...I can think of only a few modern classical composers and I'm more attuned with pre-1950's classical music. Any suggestions on where to start? I'd love to hear some classical and electronic blends in the vein of Kashiwa Daisuke.

I listen to all genres. I grew up playing in school band, so I'm fond of orchestrated music because I PLAYED orchestrated music.

BARTOK BARTOK BARTOK (since "modern" in classical still goes back to 1900 or so).

The string quartets or Concerto for Orchestra are the usual starting points.
