Stupid UK hip hop
« on: July 24, 2012, 03:33:16 AM »
This is prob the stupidest shit I've seen in a long time. At first I was like, oh yeah finally some real hip hop about the underbelly of society again. But then I realized all these chavs have free healthcare, education and housing. Everything else is mostly their fault. Zero sympathy.

Not bad

Isn't youth unemployment very high in the UK? I'm not surprised they're venting, even if they do have free health care.

Plan B's cool. He made a pretty decent transition into soul, and he's not a bad actor and director either. If you haven't already seen it check out Harry Brown which is the first film he got made.

I don't remember who made it or what the track was called but there's at least one Uk hip hop track about hanging out on rooftops and throwing human feces at people. 8)

Thats a pretty good flick.

Bugger, why did I say Harry Brown? He was good in it but that wasn't the film I was thinking of. What I should have said was Ill Manors which he wrote and directed.

Actually, looks like there aren't any more cinema showings. Oh well, wait for the dvd then.

Roots Manuva is where UK hip-hop begins and ends.

Must have had a more limited release than I thought it had. It was on at every cinema round where I live. Clearly the distributors must have thought a film on drug and gang culture would resonate with people from the lean, mean streets of Oxford.
