Prince of Persia: Act Zero
« on: August 05, 2012, 07:58:37 PM »
I'm stealing this from GAF who stole it from some PoP forum:

1) its a reboot. original PoP Zero was going to be modern day and was code named PoP Zero. Hence this reboot is going to be PoP Zero 2.
2) POP 2008's sequel assets were used in making POP TFS Wii.
3) God of War - lite
4) Ubi was working on a new IP for next gend that would have been like God of War meets Shadow of the Colossus. I think they have decided to make it the POP 2 remake

Man, the 2008 game had its problems but it was beautiful. This shit is ugly generic trash. :(

Ubi seems to constantly throw shit at the wall to see what sticks when it comes to POP. Sands was awesome, 2008 looked gorgeous (though I haven't played it yet)... this looks and sounds dull, "God of War lite"??? No thanks.

why can't they just make another classic era prince of persia game that takes place in persia and stars a prince who has a very good sense of balance and use a sword?

a pop-style game in modern times sounds like it could be great if done well (especially given the work ubisoft puts in with history & detail in the ac series), but gow gameplay got old about three fuckin years ago

Well 2008 was a pretty terrible game to play thanks to yawn inducing gameplay so no real loss that it isn't being continued. But it sure had nice art and those screens imply something a bit more on the gritty realistic look, which is not something I want either. GoW like gameplay is sure not a good sign either. PoP needs to be a acrobatic game.

What.

I mean, I had heard the rumors about it getting derailed and overhauled into a movie tie in.

But I didn't want to believe because they claimed it had just been set aside to do that first. I still need a sequel.

I was dreaming of a AC -> AC II leap. And I loved 2008.

There must be a sequel.

They should use this to tie in all their franchises. The "Prince of Persia" is an Iranian operative who steals nuclear plans to bomb Israel, and then Sam Fisher has to take him down alongside Ghost Recon but it's all a secret plot by the Templars who are actually the Rabbids.

That was a pretty game. Good balance between "easily finished" and "hard to complete." I liked it, but by the end of it, I was pretty darned done with it.

There are five roughly similar 3D Prince of Persia games and four of them are good.  I'm counting Forgotten Sands twice, since the Wii game is completely different from the PC/360/PS3 version.  And Warrior Within is the bad one.  So, It's hard to care if they "ruin" the franchise by trying something new.  Again.

Prince of Persia has to be one of the most rebooted game franchises, right? You have Sands of Time, 2008, and Act Zero. I've never played PoP 3D so I dunno if that was a reboot too.

The only POP games I've played are the original, Sands of Time (awesome game), and a bit of Warrior Within. Should I play 2008 or Forgotten Sands or the 3rd one from last gen whose name I forgot? How about the POP 3D game for Dreamcast or was that awful?

The good thing about 2008 is that it should be no strain on your back log. It lends itself to pick up and play since it splits itself into little missions. You can put it in and take down one mission and leave. Come back a few weeks later and not feel like your lost. Espicaly since the game points out where to go and for the most part allows you to tackle the game on your own pace. It's a very easy going game. It possibly would fit a handheld. Ubi should port it to the Vita.

Ubisoft would port it and rename with a new box art to tie into God of Persia: Act Zero.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a Lego Prince of Persia.

The story in all the PoP games is pretty dumb. It's just there to give you an excuse to be climbing around on stuff in Persia.
