this game is 10 bucks on steam. it's another one of those "play ur music" games.
in this game you play a ship with weapons (there are unlockable weapons) and you aim up and shoot at enemies that spawn on the left and right of you (like galaga). it's in a wacky vector style (i guess). the catch is you import your music library in and it builds the levels based on your music (audiosurf).
here a GB quicklook:
i played about 40 minutes of it.
it's pretty neat. it manages to do a better job at making you feel like you're playing your music than something like Beat Hazard. However it's not as good at it as Audiosurf. Though I would say that Audiosurf wins this competition because that style of game inherently is better for this gimmick.
you unlock new weapons as you go... but it's weird how they are displayed. you can only upgrade those weapons by going to the song you unlocked them on... so the only way to show sort through them all and upgrade them is to show ALL your music then filter out just the ones with unlocked weapons. it's kinda weird.
it does a good job at scanning to find your music but i would recommend not letting it just scan your entire computer. i tried it and the game crashed.
in terms of "playing your music". for the most part it picks up on peaks and valleys in songs, like audiosurf. so if you got a Metal song thats double bass all day you're gonna get a lot of deep red colors and enemies flying all over the place. more varies music will get enemies popping out on beat to the rhythm and it's pretty good at keeping inline with that.
there's a weird "story" to it... its about a demon who is attacking music and you have to stop him from stealing all the music. it's weird.
so uh. it's cool.
