how do you save a vehicle in your garage?

As far as I know, you can't. The only way to get new vehicles is to buy them.

yeah the only thing that kills performance in any meaningful way is the super AA crap- which no one really needs imo

Yeah, after I posted this I found out about the car-buying system and figured you can't just rampantly repossess cars. Oh well.

The most stunning thing about this game so far is United Front not fucking up the PC version. After playing some particularly assy PC ports, and hearing about Darksiders 2 and Dark Souls, playing this game reminds me of why it's important that you actually give a shit about bringing your game to PC. It runs beautifully on the max settings on my computer, the settings menu is simple and easy to tool around in and it's just a beautiful, no-bullshit experience.

Huh

I thought Darksiders 2 was pretty good on PC except the lack of graphics options to change.

That's fine, but I was referring more to the dearth of options, like Purple Filth mentions. The first game was the same way. I mean, it's not an unforgivable sin, but seeing that, then looking at Sleeping Dogs, there's something to be desired.

Oh well, at least they bother bringing it to PC in the first place.

It's worth downloading to do the one thing in the thread title. Then deleting it because it's super scripted and kinda boring.

Well I finished the game. I guess it was ok. I kind of found they story and ending unfullfilling though. At the end I was still waiting for more and it felt kind of unsatisfied with the resolution. The entire time I was waiting for something and what I got was pretty by the numbers.

That said the game was pretty fun. While no doubt repetitive, the switching off and on of phsycial and gun combat is actually pretty great and keeps the game from being a slog to finish. The combat may be no Batman, but it's still pretty fun and I honestly found it maybe not deep but pretty varied. And simple so I did'nt have to keep looking at a move list to see what to do, so thats a plus.

All in all it's a decent game, I would like to see United Front given a chance to make a sequel. They got the base down. The driving is good and I like the "ram" ability which honestly makes chases and the like better since it's more then just real fast away. The combat is good, even the pretty simple gunplay. They did some cool things with cover(the disarm thing), bet they could do more with it as well. And I think they get how to design a city based on a real one i.e don't try to just copy it and make it big, take the character of the city and make a fictional recreation.

And I want more from the girlfriend stuff as well.

Yeah I belive Giant Bomb mentioned that. The driving is pretty solid in this game.

But yeah that ending. It's just kind of bad. It's like "all this bad shit happened Whatever!" It's way too clean for what I thought was trying to be a gritty game.

This game is a heap of fun. I am happy that it hasn't broken down into "here's a melée system -- now, go shoot your guns; if you try to melée, peeps will shoot you ded."

Had a bitch of a time finding Tiffany because I didn't realize I was near Bam Bam Club. Happy to see at least some of the collectibles are not going to stay permanently hidden.

It was probably a story casualty, cobbled together out of the parts when it was True Crime: Honk Kong. Or she may have just been lost in the shuffle, but yeah:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Peggy's little adventure was the charming version of all those "take the girl shopping" missions from previous GTAs. Story-wise, it was obvious where things were going during the mission, but I honestly thought it was going to be played into late-game conflict for the hero. It was hard to believe that the narrative just rolled from that to a conclusion without even another filler mission.

I'm assuming Activision dropped it because it won't sell US$500M, and it wasn't targeted at ALL PLATFORMS, EVERYWHERE.

I sure hope it sells though. Great game.

It opened at #1 in the UK and was the sixth best selling game through it's opening week for all of 2012, so that's encouraging at least.

The thing is if properly marketed I think it would have sold as decently as anything else they put out that isn't Skylanders, COD, or Blizzard titles.

By that I mean stuff like those Spiderman games, Transformer games, prototype series, etc.

I look at it kinda like this. For a company like Activision its all about investment and pay-off. Sleeping Dogs will never be GTA big. Not even close. But If I was a publisher I would always either bet on quality or marketability. I don't think the Protoype series ever had either despite the first prototype game selling decently. I just find it odd that they looked at sleeping dogs and decided nope, we'd rather be making licensed Bond games, Spiderman games, or transformers games. If they cut all that stuff out and said its COD only then yeah maybe but if you're going to gamble I would have gambled with Sleeping Dogs and tried to market that instead of the other stuff they are doing outside of COD and Skylanders.

Sleeping dogs is probably the third best traditional urban open world style game behind GTA, and Saints Row (subjective opinions aside). I think that's a better base to build out from than the other stuff they have. Hell I'm surprised EA didn't pick up Sleeping Dogs. They tried for so long to crack the GTA market with sub-par games and here's a decent one at worst and they let it pass.

I can't tell but any setting I try and change it likes to revert to another setting. Only way to get it to do what I want is if I save it without touching certain settings but then once I  get out of the game it goes back to its settings. Some others have had similar issues, and I don't think my videocard is inferior its a 570. It currently likes to reset the resolution and texture/aa settings to 1600x900 and 13XXx7XX all either on normal or high. Its driving me mads cause the game is so awesome.

There should be an nvidia or ati catalyst app running in the system tray, could check that. I didn't have that problem, so I dunno. The only thing I didnt max was AA cause the super AA destroyed fps. Shadows had no hit though, which was a welcome change of pace.

it's a problem with the new patch

go to advanced setting and adjust them to your liking, then save and exit the screen.  when you try to exit the regular graphics setting page, it will ask you again if you want to save changes. this time choose no.  BOOM your graphics settings (advanced and normal) will save the way you wanted them to.
