Root beer is pretty much American-centric from what I understand. I guess you'd have to have had it prior to taking whatever delicious stomach medicine you non-Mericans have.

Root beer is pretty much loved by only Americans and Canadians. And some Japanese from Okinawa. Everyone else seems to detest it.

I like orange and Pr. Pepper a lot, too. I'm not sure if you had the diet cherry chocolate version of Dr. Pepper, but it truly was horrible. So horrible that I can't imagine anyone liking it ever.

Funny story: First time I've tasted root beer was a month ago. All this time I was under the impression it's... well... a type of beer, which I'm not a huge fan of.

So you can imagine how blown away I was when I tried some freshly brewed root beer (from Fitz's on Delmar). It has that flavor that I know a young Shaka would've loved. Poor young Shaka.

When I was in grade seven a friend, in the presence of his (very hot mom) offered me a jones soda. I expressed my astonishment that said friends mom would let us drink in front of her. My thinking it was alcoholic because jones' come in glass bottles, like beer. Needless to say they laughed and I was embarrassed. Thanks for bringing that memory up.

also i used to work at a&w and i brewed that shit by hand. sticky as fuck, but i got to eat corn dog nuggets and drink floats all day long

There is an A&W restaurant in Cortland, NY. You can pull up to a speaker 50's style or sit inside at a table and place your order from the phone on the table. Pretty cheap too for a burger joint.

But I like a good Ginger Beer more than any of those.

After so long in Japan, I was happy to stop by an A&W in Idaho and enjoy a scooped-ice-cream root beer float. It was great.
