REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nintendo 3DS owners are getting an amazing lineup of downloadable games for the holidays and beyond. Original games, classic games and demos will all be making an appearance in the Nintendo eShop. Fans also will soon find downloadable versions of select Nintendo 3DS hits that have already launched as packaged goods.

Nintendo 3DS owners will see a sequel to fan-favorite Pushmo, classics like Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania: The Adventure, plus a series of three original games developed by LEVEL-5 and several well-known Japanese collaborators.

“The Nintendo eShop demonstrates Nintendo’s commitment to providing consumers with unique digital content through a combination of creativity and convenience,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The variety and quality of games coming this year is unmatched, from new entries in established franchises to original properties.”

The following content is scheduled to launch in the Nintendo eShop in 2012:

ORIGINAL GAMES

NightSky launches Oct. 25. NightSky is an action-puzzle game that offers an ambient game-play experience with cerebral challenges that fill uniquely designed, picturesque worlds. Each of these worlds is broken into different areas in which the player must maneuver a sphere by using realistic physics to advance.

Crashmo launches Nov. 22. Players can embrace the laws of gravity and challenge themselves with a whole new kind of action-puzzle play in this exciting sequel to the critically acclaimed Pushmo. New gravity mechanics and gadgets like floating blocks, doors and move switches await, testing players’ skills as they push, pull and slide each puzzle’s colorful blocks in order to climb to the top. Just be careful where those blocks are moved—unsupported blocks will come crashing down. Crashmo contains lots of puzzles to test your brains, and enhanced puzzle-creation and -sharing features mean that even when all the puzzles are cleared, the fun never has to stop.

Fluidity: Spin Cycle arrives on Dec. 27, letting players tilt, turn and even rotate their Nintendo 3DS system 360 degrees to maneuver a puddle of water named Eddy through a maze-like, magical world. Change from liquid to a block of ice or a steam cloud to solve fun, gravity-defying puzzles and defeat Goop monsters. Fluidity: Spin Cycle features a new storybook setting to explore that spans the ages, from a lost world full of dinosaurs to the modern world and beyond.

Three original games from LEVEL-5 and several well-known Japanese collaborators will launch in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS before this holiday season. The first of these games, SUDA 51’s LIBERATION MAIDEN, is set 100 years in the future, when the president of Japan boards her Liberator, Kamui, and fights to free her country one region at a time. AERO PORTER by Yoot Saito and Yasumi Matsuno’s CRIMSON SHROUD are also slated for release by the end of the year.

Get ready to unleash pedestrian-tossing pandemonium with Grace and Savannah in Tokyo Crash Mobs, a fast-paced action-puzzle game coming to the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS in early 2013. Players will need lightning-fast reflexes and an eye for strategy to survive the three chaotic weeks that lie ahead for our heroines, as they take on anyone and anything that gets in their way.

RECENT NINTENDO 3DS HITS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D and Mario Kart 7 will become available for purchase from the Nintendo eShop on Oct. 18 at a price of $39.99 each. Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (launches Dec. 27)GAME DEMOS

Two demo versions of Style Savvy: Trendsetters will be available for download from the Nintendo eShop. The first demo is available today and lets players participate in a fashion contest, create an outfit based on the contest theme, style their model’s hair and makeup and send her down the runway. The second demo will be available on Nov. 1, and lets players style their clothes and makeup, and then connect to the Internet via Nintendo Network to visit the online Fashion Plaza where they can check out ensembles that actual Style Savvy: Trendsetters players have created. Any items purchased using in-game currency in this demo version can be transferred to the full game. Style Savvy: Trendsetters will launch in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on Oct. 22.

The Guild01 thing is incredibly reassuring. Proves that even the shakiest of shaky localization prospects can still be released on international eShops.

It's a dungeon crawler, and you shouldn't care because it is an RPG and there are no Pokemon in it.

Dungeon crawlers. :-\

I've only liked a few, and I don't even remember what they were.

I was going to say Echoes of Time but that just took the better parts of dungeon crawlers (loot, customizability, replayability) and left out the crap (copypasta randomized dungeon designs and grindiness.)

I was pretty close to getting into the .hack series, but never did, for obvious reasons.

I didn't want to make my own thread for this, so I'm gonna post it here because it's relevant to the topic.

After owning a 3DS XL for about a month, I can say with absolute assurance that I do not want it. None of the games on the 3DS are appealing to me, so now I'd like to get rid of it. I have two offers, one totally insane and the other slightly less insane.

The totally insane one is; when I went to get my 3DS XL I traded in my lite, even though I was suspicious I'd miss it if I got rid of it. Turns out it's true. So if any of you out there have a perfect condition DS lite you'd like to trade up for a 3DS XL, I'll do it! It's just gotta be in literally mint condition, to match the condition of mine. Alternatively if you could get a hold of a sealed(!) DS lite, I'd also trade.

The less insane offer is selling you my 3DS XL for the low, low price of $150.

You may be asking, why not just keep the 3DS, play DS games on it, and then enjoy 3DS games later down the road? Well, at the risk of sounding like a mental patient, the DS lite hardware has a specific feel to it that I miss. The form factor, buttons, sound, and that sweet, sweet battery life I've spent so much time playing those games on that system, I can't trade it for anything. Well, I realize that now. Regrettably, I did trade it, and now I'm trying to repair that mistake!

Anyhow, thanks for looking :)

EDIT: forgot the picture

it's the red one

Japanese game stores >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> U.S. game stores.

It's not just the quality that most used merchandise is in or the generally-awesome selection of games available in most shops, but the service is much better too.  It was nice walking into a store and getting trade in quotes quickly, picking up what I wanted, getting my point card stamped (free, no need to sign up for some bullshit or pay for a Game Informer subscription...and I'd get cash to use towards new and used games when it filled up!), and leaving without being bothered by some clerk pestering me to pre-order something 10 times per visit or attempting to engage in dumb fanboy bullshit.

I'm not huge into the ground sections, I find the camera really awkward to use (would have preferred these to be on rails instead of more 'free roaming'), the sky sections are great, especially Pandora's Labyrinth (the level I just cleared)...

Code Of Princess really is just like Guardian Heroes.  The basic control setup is:

B- Light attack
A- Hard attack
X- Burst
Y- Lock-on
L+R- Block

You can hold block then double tap up or down to switch planes.  Burst lets you use magic to disperse multiple enemies at once, and you can combine that with the lock-on to more damage.  Special moves are done with d,d or f, f or d, f and attack.  You can also do stuff in the air.

All of the game's dialogue is fully-voiced the story is nonsensical but seems self-aware of its cheesiness.  One of the guards called the main character a street walker because of her lack of clothes.  I think that's a first.   :lol

But the downside if that this game is clearly not 60 fps (not even sure it's 30 fps), still has some slowdown (which they claimed would be fixed from the J-release), and the game play feels a bit sluggish, however that may just be Solange herself, since she uses a big sword.

The game offers a main story mode with at least four playable characters, bonus missions that get unlocked as you go, free mode (that lets you use any character you unlock on any stage; can also be used to grind experience points), and online co-op and versus modes.

Seems pretty fun.  A bit easy right now, but all of the missions I've been doing are only in the one-star difficulty range.

Pushmo - a great puzzle game where you pull and push blocks. There are more than 250 levels so it'll last you a long time.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars - excellent turn-based tactics game similar to Rebelstar: Tactical Command and X-Com.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy - the core mechanics are basic and the RPG mechanics feel tacked on, but if you're a Final Fantasy fan (and you are) it's pretty awesome.

That's all I own for now. Next year should be more exciting with Etrian Odyssey, Fire Emblem, and Megami Tensei x2. demi posted some impressions on the last page.

The original r4 doesn't work with the 3DS. Most flash cards, in fact, don't after the most recent firmware update. You're better off springing $40 for a DSTWO. Acekard 2i used to be good (and cheaper) but their updates have slowed to a crawl. Apparently something with only a limited pool of games left to spoof/defeat the 3DS updates.

EDIT: The r4i Gold apparently is even better than the DSTWO at quick updates after 3DS firmware updates but I prefer the DSTWO for its built-in cpu. You can emulate GBA, NES and SNES (albeit a bit slow for GBA and SNES).

« Reply #462 on: October 10, 2012, 02:04:08 AM »
I don't know the exact details but the early cards (r4, Acekard, etc...) used another game's header/ROM info to bypass the blocked card list and present itself as a legit game to the DS/3DS. The problem is that the pool of games available for this purpose is steadily shrinking as Nintendo continues to update the blacklist. The newer cards (DSTWO, r4i Gold, etc...) use another method I don't know anything about but apparently it's far more flexible at circumventing 3DS firmware updates.

I've used realhotstuff.com in the past for about 5 years. They have good service and you can get an r4i or a DSTWO from them. I really like the DSTWO; the GBA emulation is fun on the 3DS. A little frameskippy, but passable.

Someone posted a video on YouTube about a year or so ago showing a 3DS rom running on a flash card but if I recall correctly it was a unique situation: it only worked with that ROM and that particular setup. The 3DS encryption/signing is a lot tighter than the DS. We may never see full flash cards for it until someone invests a shitton of their own money and takes a scanning microscope to the processor and gets the keys that way. Hell, even the DSi was only broken briefly (that DSiware sudoku game that got pulled almost instantly).

EDIT: It was called the Crown something. Crown3DS? I can't remember.

The scaling on the 3DS XL for DS games is pretty damn good and it's smoother than the DSi XL. Not as smoothed as the old 3DS, though. I'm surprised I'm saying it but I like DS games better on the 3DS XL than the DSi XL.

Original res mode on the XL is fricking awesome for Pokemon. Scaled up, the text looks like mega-crap and I can barely read it. In original res it's basically as if I was playing it on a DS Lite.

Isn't poke'mon black and white 2 a direct sequel to bw1? I never played bw1.

It's a weird middle ground between sequel and third version.

I just don't know if it's worth getting a 3ds now or later. 3ds line up is dry and if I wanna play ds games I could just emulate.

If you want it mainly for one game that isn't even out yet, just wait.

I don't think 3DS Lineup is dry. Vita would definitely be dry. Bare bones.

Tried Code Of Princess online last night:

-Nobody was playing co-op.

-Versus was a lagfest.

-The game KICKS EVERYONE after you complete a stage in co-op.   :lol

Also tried one of the bonus missions...this is where the challenge is.  More enemies to fight and a harder difficulty level.

Even though you can unlock like 50 characters, the vast majority are only available in versus mode.

It's dry if you're not interested in the interesting games.  But nothing is lost if you wait - you're unlikely to miss out on any games as a ton of them are gonna be available digitally.  It's pretty much always better to wait if you're unsure - the library is only gonna get better.

Got my 3ds xl. omg theatrhythm is going to make me cry, i just know it. just 5 minutes in and I'm having a FF nerdgasm. RABANASTRE THEME. Hey, that's the Thunder Plains theme. Omg, THE FF6 AIRSHIP THEME. Thankfully I'm on lunch break and by myself or I'd embarass myself.

Yeah, Theatrhythm is pretty awesome... my enjoyment of music games is directly proportional to my enjoyment of the music in them so that's why the game is such a winner.

I've been pretty happy with the 4 games I have for my 3DS XL - NSMB2, 3DLand, Kid Icarus and Theatrhythm. I beat the first 2, finished all the stages in Theatrhythm (except not on hard difficulty and didn't finish all the dark notes/unlock all the shit) and am now making my way through Kid Icarus. Picking up Code of Princess today too.

Andrex will be pleased to know I got Poke'mon Bw2 instead of Shinobi.

Did I mention the DSTWO has save state capability for DS games? 4 per game. Might be helpful with some of them rare pokeymans. Little bastards run way so much it becomes an exercise in masochism.
