So basically psp and ps1 stuff that you could have just bought on the psp...  But seriously though, i am keeping my psp still because there is no need ot get a vita atm.  Maybe when a good vita rpg gets released i will bite.

... Why are we talking vita in a 3ds thread anyway.

Good question.

Finally playing SM3DL and it's really quite good at reminding me of SMG, but of course it's the same team and everything. Really making me see NSMB2 in an even worse light.

Good question.

If you're not a stingy dope you don't have to worry about that otherwise. It's not like Nintendo is Sony and making people use their overpriced proprietary BS.

Lest we forget how much storage Vita has. Or rather, how little. Or rather, how none.

See the problem is that people will still but the damn console even with all these problems becasue of 1 or 2 games, people like DCharlie, Andrex and me.  Nintendo should be punished but they wont because of people like us unfortunately.

As opposed to filling the Vita card with, what? PS1 games? ::)

To fill it with content he already purchased on an entirely different system ;)

No system transfers necessary.

I'm gonna agree with Shaka here.  What the hell ARE you going to fill up the 3DS SD card with, when most of the games aren't on the E-Shop?  It's barebones.

There's nothing to be arguing about here-

-Nintendo's account-devoid system of purchasing games and transferring them is ass-backward, archaic, and stupid.
-The E-Shop is awful.
-Sony charges too fucking much for their memory cards, but at least everything is for sale digitally and it's easy to move your account and purchases to another system.

Vita sales suck, but "Vita has no games" is LOL.  I'd be concerned about both of these systems having a lack of games next year, not one or the other.  Tablets n' smartphones are killing them.

Yeah at this point, the DS was really hitting its stride in terms of software quantity and quality.  The 3DS is almost barren by comparison.  Nintards using the "Vita has no games lol" have no room to talk.

I actually think the 3DS isn't far from where the DS was at this point in time in terms of library, it's just that a lot of it is going untranslated (or is getting late translations).

Take the present US 3DS lineup (which I'd peg at about 25-30 decent retail titles and about 10 decent 3DS-specific eShop games (ie not VC or DSiware), add Rocket Slime 3, Dragon Quest Monsters, Bravely Default, Soul Hackers, Etrian Odyssey 4, Animal Crossing, Pokemon Dungeon, Layton vs Ace Attorney, EX Troopers, and a few other odds and ends, and it's not missing much that the DS had at this stage.

The "Vita has no games" thing is bunk, too, though.  "Vita won't have a whole ton more games" might be accurate, "Vita had no games for months at time post-launch" is fairly true (and is so for most systems), but taking the library as a whole here and now, it's got a pretty robust library even without taking PSP and PS1 stuff into account.

And comparing how each company handles your digital purchases is lol.  Sony wins that so hard, they're lapping Nintendo, and will forever.

There is nothing in this post I disagree with.

I do disagree with Damian though. "People will always buy Nintendo crap so they have no incentive to make it better" is kind of only half right. There are people who will buy Nintendo stuff no matter what, but that isn't enough to satisfy Nintendo's shareholders. They definitely have a vested interest in doing what they can to make it better. Otherwise the 3DS would still be $250.

Personally, I just want Nintendo to use the account system they're making for digital purchases. That's it. It doesn't even have to be a complex Live-like setup of "play games on a friends console but only if you're connected online!" At this point, even having only one active console for purchases and then linking a new one and delinking the old one is better than the current setup, and honestly what I expect them to do when they put the whole eShop/Miiverse online. They're already using the email address you used to sign up for NNetwork for the Digital Deluxe Promotion thing, which surprised me.

It's barebones if you bought a 3DS when it came out and bought every first party game as soon as it came out. Otherwise, there's the first party stuff.

It DOES need to get a lot better though. No reason most releases going forward shouldn't be day and date, or for older games not to be added. But that part I DO chock up to lazy pubs. ;) There's literally nothing stopping them.

I've played and completed:

- Mario 3D Land
- Resident Evil
- Ghost Recon
- Zelda 3D
- Tales of the Abyss
- Kid Icarus
- Professor Layton
- Paper Mario

And Kingdom Hearts is easily the most visually impressive game on the platform. This is such a breath of fresh air after the horrible DS games.

I thought RE played like garbage. Didn't really help. Plus RE's decor is "hallway hallway hallway" and you fought the same monster.

KH is enjoyable to play, has varied, more open environments to fly around in, and different enemies to fight at least..

I thought we were talking about graphics though. Yes, it's more impressive what KH can do with open environments, but that doesn't mean it's graphically superior by default. All that other stuff is just gameplay stuff.

Resident Evil demo is actually its own thing.  It's using an environment from the final game but it's a different scenario.  It does misrepresent what the game is like, so demi's right about that.

(I feel like I'm crazy because Mario 3D Land impresses me more than the other three games going around)

I liked Revelations.  Its biggest problem is the lack of enemy variety, but as you complete the story mode, you unlock levels for Raid Mode, which offers a better challenge, different enemy types, weapons and upgrades to unlock, and co-op play (online).

The game has added Peace Walker controls (awesome) but suffers from major framerate issues (awful) and downgraded visuals (yuck).  I opted for the HD Collection on Vita instead.

The best part about KH is that it actually comes with synopsis of every game thus far, along with a glossary of characters. They will drop a reference to a previous game, and the game will go "oh, need a reminder of what even happened in this game? here you go."

It's probably a great start for anyone who didn't care for the story but wants to play something on their 3DS / try Kingdom Hearts.

I'm with lyte on the benefits of the Peace Walker scheme for newcomers.  Three additions are third person aiming, crouch walking, and the ability to move and aim.  It break the AI and design a bit, sort of like pointer controls in RE4 Wii.  But it does make the game easier, if not dumbed down.

Realistically, for someone who'll never buy a non-Nintendo console, MGS3DS is the only option and it isn't that bad.  It's the worst version of the game, but take away the more recent versions (HD and Vita) and compare it only with the PS2 game(s) and it's competent.  There are problems like the dumb motion control additions like balancing on the bridge.  Sometimes the ugliness hurts the gameplay because you can't discern between enemies and environment in the distance.  And a bunch of technical problems; frame rate, audio, load times, etc.

CCPro helps but it's probably still playable without.  You use the face buttons to aim and it has crazy amounts of auto-aim to compensate.  Lots of commands are on the d-pad and touchscreen so there's that too.

fryinghigh knows what's up.  Himu crazy.

If you don't have two analog sticks, Peace Walker controls are great.  I wish they added that stuff into the PS3/360/Vita MGS3 too.

But it's a fact that MGS3 on 3DS is the worst version of the game, period.

No they didn't. Instead of taking advantage of the platforms controls they had it emulate console control scheme. That is asinine. They should have dropped the full 3d perspective crap and make it top down like MGS2, then there were be no NEED for a second stick and aiming could only be on left analog.

But no. Kojima has to be a fucking re re.

The 3ds and psp are limited by the lack of a second analog stick. If you have played MGS2 (and you haven't) you would know that the game controls like butter without the use of second stick. Kojima, up in his ass, decided to make Peace Walker control (third person camera and all) like a console game on systems that are limited in their ability to mimic console like controls due to the lack of second stick.

Metal Gear was made for top down and fixed camera angles. With top down you have no reason to worry about the camera, and with first person mode, you don't need to worry about aiming either because the left analog stick handles everything. The reason MGS3 needed third person perspective is because it's not contained like other Metal Gear titles and takes place in an open environment (a jungle) rather than inside an enemy compound with claustrophobic walls.

I just tried Metal Gear Solid 3D demo and it's as atrocious as I remember. Aiming is terrible. It took me over a minute to hit the beehive near the bridge. On the other hand, the menus are silky fast, which is an upgrade from MGS3 ps2.

Which camera angle is more suitable for a portable system without a second stick?

Fixed camera angle

or

trying replicate console tps controls and environment on a system that doesn't have a second stick?

Kojima can suck my dick nipples.

Fixed camera angles  :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck

If they wanted to do a true overhead style game (as in NO fixed angles), that would be something else.

I tried the MGS3D demo on my old 3DS with and without the circle pad pro.

I liked it better without it.

MGS PW is slow-paced enough that the face button aiming scheme worked.  Plus you don't need precision aiming anyway.

In the case of MGS3D, it certainly doesn't help that the reticule is terrible.

Terrible. That is the worst reticule I have ever seen. Mind you,  you are aiming this fucker with face buttons as well. :rofl
