Just making an idle observation, it's hard to keep track of the series if you're not already a big fan.

Thought I read the other day that the 3DS would be getting some further price cuts?  I can't seem to find anything on it now.

How much battery life should I expect at full brightness/no energy saver, full volume with DS games?

The only price cut was for the regular 3DS that I know of. Battery life is pretty good in my opinion, and I have it full brightness / no energy saver / full volume / 3DS game / wiggle your pinky toe / jack off with one hand while rubbing your head and patting your stomach

The XL has a pretty good battery IMO but I've never measured it. I almost always can get a full days' gaming session in with med/full brightness and Wi-Fi on so the OS can constantly poll which of my friends are online.

looks fun, but they've definitely missed an opportunity to include waluigi here, and that doesn't please me.

Holy shit... Oscar and I are in complete agreement on something.  Welp, time to drink some drano or something.

Waluigi was THE EVERLIVING SHIT in Mario Tennis on the 64.  His net game was god tier, for sure.

I'm 99% sure I still play more Nintendo games than you.  Fantardism isn't defined so much by the games you do or don't play, but rather why.

I'm 100% sure you have. :lol Going back and playing is much more difficult than just eating whatever they put out as it comes out.

But going back also has the benefits of knowing which ones were just a product of hype/dry spells and not worth playing.

...And it doesn't have the same RPG mode that the GBC games did.

Just reading through this last page...what kind of N-fan are you, Andrex?  It's like you're the biggest diehard Nintendo fan whose never played any Nintendo games.

I play what I like. Sports games never interested me and the Mario brand alone (or any brand, actually -- still haven't bought a Pokemon spinoff since Snap) has never been enough to sell me on a game.

Is it really that hard to just go and try games? I never touched an NES until I was 18 years old, and not only did I have a bunch of fun seeking out and playing classics from that system, but learned a lot about the history of games and game design.

This is gonna sound like blasphemy, but I think LoZ is a much better game than LttP.

Star Tropics

This too. Dip that note in water.

punch-out is a genuine classic.  it's such a great game that the wii version basically just painted a new skin on top of its mechanics and it was still awesome this gen.  infinity blade and sakura samurai both basically copy its formula and embellish it a little.  i don't care if you don't like boxing, it's not a fucking boxing sim.  it's an awesome game and if you don't play it you are a bad person.

Agreed. Mike Tyson's Punch Out! is one of my favorite games of all time. I really should play the Wii version again some time.

One of the best things about the NES is that the controller has four buttons. You can pick up nearly any game for the system and immediately understand it. This forced designers to make games really intuitive on their face and many developers got a surprising amount of depth out of that simplicity. Case in point: Metal Storm.

Really I don't care that you're being so ignorant towards the origins of Nintendo, Andrex, but it does bother me that you'll happily fabricate any excuse to remain ignorant. Just download an NES emulator and have at it. That, or demonstrate your Nintendo fandom with your wallet and use the Virtual Console. It's all sitting there waiting to be played, and most NES games can be finished in a day if you're persistent.

Yeah, arcade sports games of the past were a lot of fun, shame they've all but dried up in recent years... closest thing to a "sim" sports game I like are the Genesis NHL games.

That's what I've been doing. Until this gen I hadn't played SM64, SMB1, Lost Levels, Castlevania, a whole bunch others. But some things take time.

I probably care the most about the Virtual Console compared to anyone here. I know I have a lot of old games to get through.

Daisuke Amaya (aka pixel of Cave Story) will release another one of his older games for the 3DS eShop tomorrow, Ikachan.

Click here for the free PC version. It's a nifty little open-world action adventure game where you collect experience to become faster and encounter many cute things. I really love this guy's stuff, so give it a look! demi, feel free to buy this on the 3DS I traded to you so when I inevitably buy it back I can play it :P

EDIT: It seems it is also coming to DSiware? Maybe I'll just get one of those instead :)

It looks like the shipments on this are kinda limited. My GS stopped taking preorders and most likely won't secure extra copies for walk-ins. I can't believe I'm saying this but if it takes too long I might pull the trigger on the eShop version.
