One of the best things about the NES is that the controller has four buttons. You can pick up nearly any game for the system and immediately understand it. This forced designers to make games really intuitive on their face and many developers got a surprising amount of depth out of that simplicity. Case in point: Metal Storm.

Really I don't care that you're being so ignorant towards the origins of Nintendo, Andrex, but it does bother me that you'll happily fabricate any excuse to remain ignorant.
Just download an NES emulator and have at it. That, or demonstrate your Nintendo fandom with your wallet and use the Virtual Console. It's all sitting there waiting to be played, and most NES games can be finished in a day if you're persistent.

you fucking suck as a video game fan. seems like you spend more time arguing about tech companies and their business strategies than actually PLAYING GAMES. probably wouldnt annoy me so much if you were honest about it instead of trying to act like something youre not.

also i would really like to know about the pathology of people who get so invested in businesses that they debate them on the internet. i just cant wrap my mind around it.

Yup

That's what I've been doing. Until this gen I hadn't played SM64, SMB1, Lost Levels, Castlevania, a whole bunch others. But some things take time.

I probably care the most about the Virtual Console compared to anyone here. I know I have a lot of old games to get through.

I can almost guarantee you I have more VC games than you, and I can certainly guarantee that I have more old Nintendo shit than you. Fake ass "fan" only for the purposes of arguing

Ok. So go play a different Fire Emblem. They aren't radically different.

I read it's gonna be delayed till the 8th on GAF. Guess I'll play some Crimson Shroud and Denpa Men in the meantime...

:drudge Last page is flashing up a big malware warning in Chrome. :drudge

Didn't DCharlie offer to give away his Super Famicom collection to Andrex and he turned it down?

What's the point of a massive backlog?

I am also moving towards an all digital future. Dealing with a bunch of carts with dead batteries in a language I can't read is not my idea of a good time.

DC also didn't come out and say what it was until he realized I wasn't going to play ball with him over this "super secret present teehehee!" Accepting unknown gifts over the internet didn't seem prudent, at the time.

it's already spoken for - infact it's largely boxed up. It's loose Super Famicom, Famicom, Megadrive, Gameboy games - obviously i had to throw in the megadrive stuff to get rid of the horrible smell of Nintendo.

However, i've been dealing with deciding what the frig i'm going to do with myself for the next 4 or 5 years and i'm off on solo holiday for 3 weeks from tomorrow so i can get some stuff done - so Oscar-kun is going to have to wait until i send the bundle unfortunately.

Also found a copy of Super Turrican i didn't know i had - and a Back to the Future 2 - wooot.

In one very particular way that only works to Nintendo's advantage.  I'm more worried about it getting lost or stolen, but the current way also prevents you completely from getting rid of the old system before getting the new one.  Sometimes I get through everything I want to play for a system and get rid of it for a year or two while more games come out for it.  This happens all the time with Nintendo systems since they tend to have an emphasis on 1st party and under emphasize 3rd party compared to PS/MS.   When I buy another one, the used prices for the systems are much cheaper by then as well.  I've had a bunch of PS3s and 360s because I know I can always grab my account and everything I've bought with it previously.  I've spent thousands between Sony and MS, easily less than $100 with Nintendo.

The way they currently do it comes off like some archaic measure to prevent people from getting rid of their console...but as they release more consoles subsequently, it also looks like more of a greedy "aha!" tactic.  We all know that a console is just refined and customized PC parts and custom software in a custom hardware case--amateurs get old Nintendo games running on anything that can process data.  But Nintendo can tell kiddies and moms that running NES games on Wii and WiiU is so wildly different that they can't just give them away to people who already purchased them on other consoles.  Not only that, they can also convince the kiddies and moms that there needs to be a graded cost scale depending on whether you're redownloading NES, SNES, etc. :lol  The WiiU roms will be a little different with pad support, but they could've gained big points by just linking accounts and letting you redownload for free.  For me, it'd be reassuring to see Nintendo get into this century. I'd spend more money with them.  But the graded costs for each system's roms are complete, 100% bullshit though-- that's for profit.  We know those games don't actually cost anything to transfer.  They're tiny.

I just finished Ocarina (for the first time) on the 3DS.

I love how the entire game you're listening to shithouse general MIDI, and then during the credits roll there's a full eight-minute symphonic suite version of the overworld music. Jesus christ.

You don't have to get bored with a game to not finish it. Most people probably just got distracted or interrupted from playing it and never went back. Especially for more casual players, kids and those who only game for like 20 minutes a day.

new Mario Golf from Camelot (World Tour is the subtitle, I think)

Mario and Luigi 4 Dream Team.  Gimmick this time is Mario jumping inside Luigi's dream.  Bottom screen is a Luigi sleeping and you touch his face to make stuff happen in the dream world.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (?)--it's a port of the Wii game (allegedly)

and, uh, Animal Crossing is coming out in June in America

edit: some Mario and Donkey Kong puzzle game (unlike the old ones)

Dillon's Rolling Western 2

--the disparity between 3ds and wii u support

edit:

Europe is getting the Circle Pad Pro (for the XL).  I guess that's not happening for America.  and a white, black, and fire emblem version of the XL.  America gets nothing.
