On 3DS I'm most looking forward to the Donkey Kong 3DS remake. They got rid of the Wii waggle and added new levels.. should be the definitive version of a great platformer.

Devil Survivor 2 3DS looks pretty good.

Good to see the 3DS kicking butt. I definitely want Donkey Kong 3DS and DS2 3DS, we'll see about the other games.

I have a Japanese 3DS now but nothing on the horizon to import yet besides SRW UX, which wasn't very good. Might have been a mistake considering almost everything is being localized already.

Ya know I retched at Pokemon XY's graphics at first but this trailer actually looks pretty nice:

Nice touch with him looking into doorways he runs past. Not up there with the best on the system by any means but it's not bad, at least.

Hype increasing. (That Pokemon-ami stuff sounds 'scusting though.)

It's okay.  The only way I could see calling it god-tier or putting it on the same level as drill dozer is if you haven't played the better games it's lifting from. Also, it's way the fuck overpriced.  Pulseman is a better game, but Andy probably hasn't played that one, for reasons we can all guess.

Pulseman's on the Virtual Console though...

(They get a bit of rest during the cash-grab third versions and to an extent remakes.)

so G.Rev's Kokuga came out about a week ago, and I'm comfortable recommending it to anyone who likes a good, non-fat schumppy experience.  Its tough (but fair) as shit, with scaling difficulty that well alters the stages to make things even more difficult.  If this came out on any other system then the 3DS, hell, a 3DS retail game even, it would be getting more attention.

I like it lots.  Its better then Nano Assualt, but not nearly as pretty.  Which makes it the automatic best option for the whole shooter genre on the system.

Nah, they're stuck making Pokemon games for eternity because those are some of the best-selling games, period, and while their other games have a certain appeal, they've sold pretty poorly all around.  I don't think they're terribly unhappy about the arrangement, either, given the relative job security.
I guess you have a point. I'd like to think there are people working at GameFreak with great concepts for games without the chance to execute them, but then stuff like HarmoKnight is evidence that Pokémon is all they really know how to do well these days.

Fwiw I don't think HarmoKnight is bad, but like you said, there are other games out there that do the same thing but better. A few them are actually on the 3DS.

that video IS a way to play pirated games,i'm torn on the 3DS,there are a lot of games that i sort of want to play (layton,3d mario land,SMT4) and a few i really want to play that are still not out (bravely default, ace attorney 5) fire emblem is definitely not one of them,i rage quitted the series forever after on the wii fire emblem (FE12?) an unlucky critical made me loss around 30 minute of progress

There's actually quite a bit of good stuff on the eShop, but its layout makes it pretty well impossible to find.

Like what? I saw SMB 1 & 2 and Zelda 1 & 2, the GBC Zeldas, some Mega Man games, Guild01 & 02, Denpa Men, and HarmoKnight.

That stuff, Picross, Crimson Shroud, Pushmo, Crashmo, Gunman Clive, Molemania, the Wario Land games, Gradius, Defenders of Oasis, Shining Force Sword of Hayja, Sakura Samurai, Castlevania (NES), Mario Golf GBC, Super C, Ninja Gaiden, plus the whole DSiWare catalog, which has a lot of gems in the fields and fields of turds.

That's just quickly going off what I've bought, but there's other stuff too, I'm sure.  Just can't be arsed with it because I have this iPhone right here, you see.

And I'm assuming these are things you're also recommending, right?

Even though I only payed 30˘ for Super Metroid I'm not willing to rebuy it again. Nintendo needs to unify their platforms with an account system. Locking software to hardware is up there with rape and child abuse.

I'm not that far in. The only S-link I have so far is between Nowi and Gregor although I went back and loaded a previous save since I didn't know how the skill inheritance system worked and the resulting sidequest was kicking my ass. I think I'm going to try to marry my tactician Nemesis to either Tharja or Cordelia.

Yup, so you can now play both games on one system.  I think the GBA features are not present -whatever those even were- though.

EDIT: Found it-
Quote
Play Shantae on GBA and you'll notice a small sign on the title screen reading, "GBA Enhanced!" Gamers have often wondered exactly how the game was "enhanced," for GBA, since it looks exactly the same when played on the older GBC hardware as well.

As it turns out, the so-called enhancement doesn't improve the game for play on GBA -- rather, it keeps the game from suffering the odd color degradation that comes standard as part of the GBA's backwards-compatibility.

"When GBA came out I was shocked at how poor the color quality was when it plays a GBC game -- I think I shut down for a week out of self pity," explains Bozon. "Jimmy came up with the idea of detecting the hardware and having alternate color values. It took some work, but you now have a game that is nearly indistinguishable from the GBC if played on the GBA."

A similar technique was incorporated into the Zelda Oracles titles, although to much less impressive effect: GBA users were treated to a pair of "advance" rings which offered negligible value. With Shantae, on the other hand, the hardware detection trick simply reinforces the care poured into the game.

"It's sad, because you'll never be able to appreciate how awful it looked," jokes Bozon. "In addition, if it's played on GBA we added a playable Tinkerbat character that can be found in a town later in the game. You have to talk to an animated version of Jimmy in order to get it. Now detecting hardware is more commonplace, but then it was super-fancy. We reused it in Wendy: Any Witch Way to open an extra world."

I wonder if I'll ever be able to sell off the GBC copy I have for a good price now.  Nobody ever bid on it when I tried listing it at $100 less than the ridiculous prices that were on eBay some years back.
