Nintendo is milking mario more than ever, thats ok except that this NEW SUPER MARIO shit is the same fuckign mechanics recycled for the 4th or 5th time now. With the old 2D Marios you atleast had new stuff with every release.

I might pick it up if it's not extremely short. For example 3D Land's length an extras were perfect, is this game anything like that? I don't mind the recycling criticisms since I haven't revisited the formula in 6 years.

I'll probably get it later on. :bow Platformers :bow2

I really disliked the first NSMB but I still don't really regret buying it. Was nice seeing Mario back in 2D.

With this game, the chances of being burned are more, but I still want to try it out. I like being seen as knowing what I'm talking about when it comes to the Mario series. :spin

In any case it's low on my priorities, I'd get it after I'd have gotten SM3DL.

NSMB felt like it was designed by interns.  NSMB Wii was an excellent game.  I'm curious as to how NSMB2 and NSMBU turn out.  I'm a huge taco for Mario games and if it turns out well, I might have to get a 3DS and Wii U respectively.

First impressions: It's NSMB1 with the raccoon tail added in (which already made its comeback in 3D Land) and some weird brick that goes on your head, giving you more coins.  Same old, same old.  Doubt it will turn out anywhere near as good as 3D Land.

Version is a semi misnomer.  It's a brand new game with the same 4 player co-op of the wii game.  There's actually a fifth player option that can use the pad to set up temporary blocks in the world.  New powerups like the baby yoshis and squirrel suit, miiverse integration akin to the demon souls online featureset, possible achievement system (conjectured due to a specialized message on the world map in a screenshot).  For me it just gives off the intangible vibe of delight that I got from experiencing the wii game for the first time.  I'm not even a fan of Super Mario World, so i can say the trappings don't tickle any nostalgia fancy here.

I have the distinct impression the portable entries will be cash ins and the console games will be the good ones. In a Star Trek movie-way.

The director of NSMBW is doing U (:teehee), and from what I've seen it looks pretty good. But yeah, that might be my massive World nostalgia talkin'.

I was actually hoping that a New Super Mario Bros. 2 would in some way revive some of the style, characters, and gameplay of the NES SM2.  I still adore that game.
Yes, I long for a new game with Mario throwing radishes at Shy Guys.

was listening to the 8-4 podcast today and they were talking about how levels from the game were designed by students at the nintendo training facility (or whatever its called). so i'm not surprised it doesn't feel as good.

its in my gamefly list, but not sure if i care to play it. lot of games coming out and school just started again. priorities

U is being made by the same team that made Wii, as opposed to this team of jobbers, so I guess I can be cautiously optimistic.  I'm sick to death of this motif, though, so they better bring the level design thunder.

Uh, even the galaxy games follow the ancient fire/grass/sand/ice template with some spacy stuff thrown in.  I thought this was something mario fans came to peace with a long time ago.  Especially after Sunshine tried to do something different in this regard and fell flat on its face.

Sunshine has many awesome qualities but the lows are so, so, so low.  Stupid glitches, dreadful balance, copy-paste bullshit, comically bad camera, comically bad cutscenes, blue coins, clearly visible seams where great chunks of the game were cut out etc. etc.  No amount of tentacle ripping and chickens shitting paint and piggy water balloons can make me forget.  It's an extremely uneven game.
Been watching Siglemic speedrunning 64 lately and it reminded me just how great that game is.  Masterpiece.
