You don't need much strategy for Diablos - it really is a huge wimp.

You've already fought Diablos in Tri surely, right?

Save your terror for Nargacuga or Tigrex (though you'll have to wait for MH4 for that one) - and i guess the usual EvilJho warning (outside of ancients).

The ONLY reason i want to actually spend time with MH3G/U is to fight the Nargacuga warping subspecies, the EvilJho sub, and the Zinogre sub.
I don't even care about the new mosters, and the underwater fighting can go felate itself.

the more i play the 3DS version the more i agree with the Japanese MH community - this game is fucking piss easy

where are the PSP faux moaners who played 10 minutes of the game and wrote it off as "too easy compared to the PS2 games i didnt bother playing"?!

the whole wanky MH elitism hornets nest is so full of arseholes that its becoming hilarious - and the whole "OH WOW - I NEVER CARED UnTIL NOW/NINTENDO!" movement is full of total ill informed slackjaws that i am beyond reproach for these wankstain flag waving cock sucks

Lawl, I can only imagine the reaction from the MH "elite" when Tri came out and people outside their super secret club started enjoying the game.

Dis gon be good.

What does this mean? :lol You're saying Nintendo fanboys played MH on PSP just to diss it, only to come back later and praise Tri? What is the thought process here? I'm baffled.

Tri wasn't very hard outside a few troublesome monsters but the learning curve on the controls is a different ballgame. Takes patience more than anything.

i'm saying certain folk (mainly the 8-4 cast) dissed the PSP 3rd P for being too easy before getting anywhere near the end game (start of back end HRs), then proclaimed the 3DS version to be "hard" whereas the Japanese MH community rank it as easier than 3rd P

and yes - as much as i am friends with the 8-4 guys - John and JJ are pretty much dyed in the wool nthings. Especially John though the 8-4 name should be a give away.

See : sprsks " the demo is so hard , i died twice fighting Rabbit boss !"  where as my reaction was "good god, this is piss easy" - now that to me is a function of the "poker" gameplay of MH - there's nothing this boss can do to surprise me any more and as a result i took it to the cleaners. But that's how the game works so this whole fantasy that it's somehow super hard just strikes me as... well... fanboy fantasy. I'm at the 4* quests off line and i've only tried one "offline" online and that was Yan kuku and i kicked the ever loving shit out of it. (i understand the hit box moaning etc i was there - hell, i've moaned about every MH game since MH2 on PS2)

Just fyi - compared to the PS2 MH1 - all of this is like gentle stroking with a feather - the PS2 MH1 was so brutally hard that it was borderline a kinky fetish.

we were too busy playing it to care? it's only when arseholes babythings suddenly started piping in with "NOW ITS ON MY FAVOURITE MANUFACTURES PLATFORM I'M A HUGE FAN OF THIS SERIES.... BUT OF COURSE IF IT GOES OFF MY PLATFORM OF CHOICE I WONT PLAY IT!"

I'm thrilled that the game has more fans but now the captive new audience is "BU BU BU CAPCOM DONT SPLIT DAT USER BASE!!!" - ffs....

It's basically : This series has always interested me - i just ignored the previous X versions because... Nintendo'n't.

To be fair, marketing and sales for the series were crap in the west until Tri. So, uh, thank Nintendo for helping out with marketing I suppose.

Tri from my vantage point also had a nice difficulty curve and felt somewhat more inviting and smoothed over than I imagined the other games being, but obviously that isn't why I picked it up over the past entries. TBH I never even heard of MH until PS3 fanboys pitched a fit over Tri going to Wii, I guess you might be right in saying that's when I started paying attention. But that isn't the only reason. I still haven't played DQ9 nor do I have much desire to, same for other "betrayalton" series that have come to Nintendo platforms.

I'm interested in Bayo 2 though, but with the expectation I'll eventually play Bayo 1.

You just sound like someone who's making up excuses as to why you're pissed off that new players are enjoying "your" series that you've "been with since the PS2." Get over it. ::)

Makes sense to me- release the game on a system starved for good third party releases!

That doesn't explain why it ditched the PS3 at that point though. ;)

What are you talking about?  Monster Hunter was never on PS3 -until they released the HD PSP port-up- and had firmly established itself as a portable game series at that point.  Tri got "ported" back to the PSP with that Japanesesque skin later on.

I'm trying to stay out of this but this isn't true.  Tri's sales increase over MHFU wasn't particularly more substantial than MHFU's increase over MHF2.

Sssh Oscar. :wag What about Europe?

Tri was originally announced for PS3. Dunno if any actual work on it was done before it moved, though.

Well, it *was* announced for PS3, though.  Who knows if they ever did anything for that version, but it was definitely announced, so I guess you could say PS3 got ditched like Saint's Row ditched 3DS or something.

Ass Creed would be the better analogy since the ideas for it went into Revelations.

Or like how Maximum Impact was announced for the 360 and not even a screenshot was released.  Capcom kept releasing PSP games instead.  Makes sense to me.

The handheld games were a separate line from the console versions at that point in Capcom's mind, though, I think.

Huh?  Aren't all three of the main PSP MH games ports from MH1, MH2, and the changed-up Tri?

The handheld games were a separate line from the console versions at that point in Capcom's mind, though, I think.  So they weren't releasing PSP games *instead* of console versions.  They certainly had intention of releasing MH on a console, and initially they intended it to be PS3.  Then Wii heated up, PS3 went flat, Nintendo probably waved a few shiny baubles at them, and things changed.  PS3 was certainly "ditched".

The better approach for picking at Andrex's comment would have been to contest the claim that PS3 was starved for good third party releases.  Never was, never has been, never will be, especially compared to the Wii of all things.

But, Opoona dude. :(
