Does anybody care that Dragon Age 3 is a thing?
« on: September 17, 2012, 07:57:02 PM »
"The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now," said Aaryn Flynn, BioWare General Manager. "We've been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven't held back, so we're not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they're asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral."

"Visceral combat" :lol

Me. Sounds like it will be better than DAO which is a huge plus. What a stinker that was.

Dragon Age 2 had polish and not much else. I had more fun playing Risen 2 and Two Worlds.

Dragon Age: Origins was a really good game, DA2 was poop in a stick.

Did Dragon Age 2 have polish? I mean did it really? I mean sure I guess it's not hard to polish one room and then use it for the entire  25 hour game, but still...

I encounterd some pretty funny things like a DLC character poping up in the game and acting like he knew me even though I never got him.

It largely looked...nice, I guess, and seemed reasonably free of bugs.

Nope, don't care.  BioWare managed to fuck up both DA and ME in the span of like 2 or 3 years, obviously the EA taint has rendered them suitable only for demi's twisted consumption.  Shit dev total now.

I'll probably give it a go unless it looks terrible but they would have to essentially scrap most of that shit from 2 to make it decent and they still seem to think 2 wasn't a pile which it was.

I tried a couple times to get through 2.  It was fucking impossible... you really have to have shit taste to enjoy that game.  So, unless in the lead up coverage I hear a lot of "well, we realize we fucked up pretty bad in DA2" followed by specific examples of where they think they fucked up, I'm really not interested.  Which is sad, because BioWare used to be one of if not my most favorite developers.

2 is one of those games that gets worse as time passes. When I beat it orginally I just thought it was average. But looking back it soured me greatly on the franchise as a whole which is ashame.

whole mother severed head horseshit?  I don't think I've ever been so fucking bored/insulted by a game's story.  Like, a story can either supplement the gameplay or get in the way, and DA2's did nothing but get in the way, and the gameplay took a step back from the first anyway.

You could tell Dragon Age 2 was going to be a trainwreck from the beginning.  I'm cautiously optimistic about DA3 until the Bioware PR machine starts looking foolish.

It was cheesy and out of left fied but it was so silly it didn't really bother me. There is stuff later though that did bother me worse because it impacts the main story in a significant way.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over it, that's for sure.

Basically, with the Kickstarter revolution throwing hardcore PC RPGs [Project Eternity, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, The Banner Saga] back into the forefront, there's no need to be desperate for Bioware's next appeal to the mainstream. But if it turns out to be really great, and people here who didn't like DA2 agree, then I'll give it a shot.
