That...doesn't really make sense, unfortunately.

They may have been talking about a different game.  :-\

Hopefully this badassery will make up for that:

Finished at 18 hours according to Steam. Great combat, fun stealth, enjoyed collecting the collectables. Best FPS I've played since Deus Ex :P Felt that I was fairly prudent with my killing but I got high chaos on nearly every stage :lol Do weepers count in your kill tally?

Do weepers count in your kill tally?

Yep. The only things you can safely kill are animals. Weepers are people, my friend.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
In the low chaos ending, Piero and Sokolov are shown curing weepers.

I've become seriously lost in the drowned city. It's still awesome, and the behaviour of the tall boys is so much excellent fun.

It's basically designed around 'you can be a stealth-gun panther, but when you're spotted, just go with whatever happens, use guns and stealth'.

Dishonored had the biggest launch of an original game during its first week this year in the UK [replacing Sleeping Dogs], for all that that's worth. It also opened at #2, behind FIFA 2013's third week.

The stealth mechanics are pretty great and I love the style.

However I'm a little disappointed with how basic and straightforward the missions are and how quick they are to complete. I'm going through all them doing the non-lethal solutions and it's been absolutely no challenge. Maybe the stealthy lethal methods are more difficult?

I'm about 9 hours in and nothing about the design of the missions has really impressed me much. The masquerade mission was probably the most disappointing because of how short and simple it was. You literally talk to 2 or 3 people and the mission is over.

I do like that you can approach these missions with multiple methods. It would be better if the missions had a little more to them.

just finished the game.

The latter portions are a bit better than the rest in that they focus on stealthing through a level and not just trying to take out a target.

the game has that problem where you can subvert a lot of the games systems with the leveled abilities. like the super jump which pretty much let me get anywhere I wanted to go and allowed me to skip large chunks of the levels. i have trouble faulting the game for being too easy when I spec'd my character in a way that made it that way.

however I do think the design in a lot of the assassination missions was just too simple to be interesting.

overall i feel this is good game with great mechanics and disappointing level design.

I would like a sequel that has more complex levels that require more challenge regardless of the options you go with.

I loved how vertical all the levels were. Even more of that and even bigger, more complex levels in a sequel would be great.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts of the game, but I enjoyed the first half more because you had to get a target or find something, while the last few levels I was just bypassing swathes of content with bend time + blink. I ended up with multiple unused runes because I never used the combat focused ones. I felt there was a bit too much learning guard routes if you were trying for a stealth/ghost playthrough , especially after the "plot twist".

Yeah I finished it today. Pretty sweet game, but I agree about the level design. I know I enjoyed the game, but I feel like the levels were so simple I was sleep-walking through them.

nah, that's definitely the game's fault.

unless you wanna go easy on game design balance.
