Windows phone
« on: October 04, 2012, 07:29:10 PM »
Got one today, first impression was to make out with Drinky.

My bad, its ok, ok if you like being treated like a 5 year old. Its basicly MS copying Apple and has none of the normal things you would expect from a windows product like flexibility in item management. You have to use Zune to put media on it, which doesn't work at all for me and crashes my PC. What happened to drag and drop? I would say its iTunes bad but it doesn't even work for me so its even worse.

Phone doesn't let you download things from the internet or SkyDrive, what the hell? Is this bizarro land where MS is trying to be Apple but then ironically Google gets sued instead (and Android offers the real windows experience of customization and flexibility)?

On a final note, what's the point of Xbox integration if you can't purchase things with your MS points? Half assed effort there MS.

In short after 4 hours I don't have any songs on my phone and one game for which I had to use my CC instead of my MS points.

I conclude that Windows phone is great for people that want a gorgeous looking OS, great social media integration and a Windows logo instead of Apple.

This was suppose to be on FB to follow up on me praising the phone but apparently fb doesn't like long messages and I couldn't post it!

Most of that stuff will be fixed in WP8.

Zune software will be replaced with a Metro app plus a regular desktop sync software very soon.

Welcome to the waiting for WP8 club!

It's pretty amazing. If you went back in time 10 years and told people this absolutely no one would believe you. (Hell, they probably wouldn't believe Google has its own mobile OS to begin with, or that Apple actually made one that was successful after the Newton.)

Woah, you got a WP now?  Seems kind of foolish since no W7 phones can upgrade to 8, seems like it would make more sense to just wait for that instead of wasting a new contract on a dead-end OS.

Who's to say WP8 isn't a dead-end OS?

Cause I thought it would be foolish to spend 500 euro on a new phone when my last 500 euro phone got murdered after one year, I thought since I used it for one year out of the intended three years of use I would write off 150 euro and get something for that. I'm saving for a new bike, ring and holidays in the states  :'(

If I hadnt blown my savings during my 4 month holiday this year I would have def gotten something beefier, like the S3

Ill install Windows 8 tonight to see if I can get Zune working and get a song on the Lumia, this is an Appleesque nightmare.

It's $350.  ??? Even with markup that's gotta be like, 300 euro at most.

Maybe I'll just bring this pos back to the store...

Unlocked and without plan.

Probably the best value of any smartphone available.

I managed to put a song on it!

Was as simple as making an extra user and running Zune under that account.

Now thats what I call sound software!

She'd also probably be shocked to learn I'm the most successful of her kids, even with those unfortunate mental handicaps.
