I've never really enjoyed a double album. I always end up creating my own 10-12 song mix out of all the songs.

All Eyez On Me isn't that good. ???

I'm sorry you feel that way.  For several months about a decade ago, I'd listen to it almost on a daily basis.  I think it's a classic.

I'm not really a fan of double and triple albums since a lot of the material tend to be average filler.

Aphex Twin – Drukqs ()
Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I and II ()
Jimi Hendrix – Electric Ladyland ()
The Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness ()
Wu-Tang Clan – Wu-Tang Forever ()

Joanna Newsom's Have One on Me is pretty awesome, if we include triple albums.

Consistency wise outside of AEOM and Exile On Main St., the first that come to mind:

-Wu Tang Forever
- Songs in the Key of Life
- Sign O the Times

Exactly. Every good double album could be trimmed to a great single album; AEOM has What's Ya Phone # and some other horrible ladies tracks, Wu Tang Forever has Dog Shit and a couple other bad or average tracks, etc. My criteria revolves around double albums with the most consistency and ones with the most stellar tracks. To use the same comparison again, Wu Forever is very consistent, moreso than AEOM, but doesn't have as many classic tracks.

The White Album had some of the best song ever...but it also has some very forgettable ones, especially on the second disk

Liquid Swords is now sortof a double album, and is also probably the greatest thing hiphop has produced so far.

Liquid Swords.

Still sounds awesome and fresh. The sheer ambition of the album is something to behold.

Outkast are another group who know how to make music that is timeless and sonically interesting.

All Eyez On Me is full of filler and most of the best songs were the singles. It also is a major downgrade in terms of lyrical quality from Me Against The World. Death Row made 2pac lose a lot of what made him unique to rappers, and he played that gangsta rap card like a fiddle. When, before, that was only one aspect of 2pac.

Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, however, has a banger traditional hip hop album and a banger contemporary hip hop album. It is more daring, experimental, balanced, consistent, and a hell of a lot more fun to listen to.

Seriously, no one talks about Andre 3k anymore - outside of his rare, awesome guest verses on people's albums - but it seems to me that Love Below was the catalyst for a lot of the hip hop we're seeing today. I'm not saying he was the first rapper to sing rap over abstract beats and shit but from a mainstream perspective, he showed it could be commercially viable in the aughts; on the flip side, Common's Electric Circus and Mos Def's New Danger came out earlier but weren't received well.

808s and Heartbreaks, Kid Cudi, Drake, etc strike me as branches from that tree.

I wish Andre would put out more of his own music.  But like any trailblazer, he's bored of the same old same old; guess he wants to try acting and shit even if he sucks at it.
