Anyone have disc read errors with Skies of Arcadia Legends?
« on: January 09, 2007, 12:49:59 AM »
Ive been playing it and the gamecube gags on special attacks sometimes, usually boss fights. I mean I luckily have a save but its getting annoying. None of the other cube games I own do that and REmake is pretty streamilicious.

Should I blame SEGA lol.

It's because the potentiometer, or POT, under the laser is probably moved a little from movement of disc spinning or the system being flung around overtime. You can usually adjust it by taking apart your cube and taking a small screwdriver and turning it to adjust the POT (it's a white circle) to 170-210 ohms. Need a digital multimeter to check the resistance while you're doing it. If you need picture references or have the guts to do it here's a link:

It could also be the laser itself that might be the problem. My GC has problems running Beyond Good & Evil, Starfox Adventures, and Skies of Arcadia. Prior to that though...it couldn't read anything at all  :( . At least I manage to I revive my GC for my other games...

My copy had no problems. Maybe there was a bad shipment of them.  This is Sega afterall. My copy of NBA2k3 was one of many buggy jacked up discs that froze often.

I need to do that to my launch PS2, but I'd be better off eating a pizza off it or something

I've only had this happen with REmake and Eternal Darkness. ED had it the worst. I'm actually afraid to put ED into my Wii for fear of wearing down the motor.
