Dunno if it's ok to talk about GAF threads here...but anyways there's a GAF thread talking about a possible ultimate megaton announcement on 1/11 that will "end the console wars".

I'm just taking a wild guess but I think it has something to do with the Wii/Nintendo, and maybe Square is involved.

I guess the corporate bigwigs just couldn't ignore the shocking success of the Wii and the underwhelming sales of the PS3 in Japan any longer. Some big decision/deal is going to be announced.

I cant imagine any announcement 'ending the console wars' Too many good devs out there to jump ship for one. Most of Square's latest things have been mediocre. The only thing keeping numbers up in their software sales are idiot fans with too much money.

Nintendo should just buy FF. It would be their final revenge for Sony stealing FF7 10 yrs ago. It would be the ultimate payback.

I mean they gotta use the billions of profits from DS/Wii on SOMETHING, right?

FFXIII doesn't look that great to me. The only hope I have for it is that Versus (Nomura's action RPG) is a total Kingdom hearts clone, so that will be fun at least.

The Wii wouldnt be able to keep pace with the upcoming FF from a technical standpoint without being something different. I figure if Square wants to make 80 versions/side stories for FF13, why not one for the Wii.

Theres no other series that could garner this much attention I would think. And even if the Chrono series is just a memory at this point it still holds a place in a lot of gamers hearts (especially mines).

Would be awesome if Mistwalker took on the developing of a new Chrono game for Nintendo. I would love for it to go to the PS3 or 360 (cause I'm a graphics whore) but all of this seems to be about Nintendo.

Yeah, Chrono Chross was a bit rancid. I liked it the first time through but it didn't have the original feel to it...like a completely different game. I didn't really like the Suikoden type of "Catch em' all" playable characters.

I remember the Xbox 360 conference at TGS or something. There was supposedly going to be a megaton, I went to bed but wanted to stay on at gaf that night for the fun, read the thread that morning and lol'ed at all the blue balls people got. There was no megaton. AHUAHUA

I just found Earthbound really interesting and enjoyable because its pretty out there and different, while Chrono Trigger seemed to be more standard JRPG fare. Although I havent played much of Chrono Trigger. Maybe I'll give it another go soon.
