I -am- playing it right now.

It's a huge disappointment if you like the older Paper Marios.

But I think it's not exactly worth writing off, it's a different take on the series -- much like Lightning Returns.

To answer Methodis, I don't think it punishes you for wanting to play fights, either.

I'm just about to finish World 3.

Kid Icarus is good, lots of content. Just dont be surprised if your hand cramps up. I had to set my hands up a special way just to play it.

I read about the weapon variation and all the upgrades. I guess i'll get Kid Icarus instead. Shame that the Paper Mario series is on a downhill after  the fantastic ttyd.
