Birth of our daughter, wife and I are doing well after being together for nine years and married for six. She got a big promotion at work, refinanced our house, paid off her graduate school loans, etc. YAY.

What age did she start getting her MBA (I'm assuming that is what she did)?

I heard 27 is the sweet spot for starting it.  Next year, I'll be 28 and I feel like I'm falling behind.  Need to get off my ass and get going on a lot of things I keep putting off.

Had a beautiful, happy, healthy baby girl
Got promoted and tons of raises at a job I just started last year and love
Got a new car
Lost 10-15 lbs of pre-preg weight and in spite of being preggers half the year
Met some awesome people, including some boreans


Nay:
Little to no communication from some family and very close friends
Health wise is pretty shit - I can barely hold the baby for a few minutes before my arms/shoulders go out, my hands are really weak and drop everything, migraines, etc

But honestly, because of the nays, we've become closer with the family and friends who matter, and my husband turned into superdad doing everything that I want to but physically can't. He and I are even closer than before. So all-in-all yay!

A decent year, can't complain too much:

on the positive side:
-finally moved out of my mom's house into a place of my own (this is a lot harder than it seems considering housing costs are so high on the island)
-got a chance to see some incredible DJ performances this year - Tiger and Woods twice, Sasha, Tiesto, and for the first time ever, Eric Prydz
-went on a nice vacation to Phoenix/Sacramento/SF with family, first time to those places

on the negative side:
-very little money after paying mortgage and for house-related stuff
-dating life is still going nowhere
-while I have a pretty good job with some great benefits, uncertainty about the future and the fact that I feel I'm stagnating there is bothering me
-been kinda lonely as many of my friends got engaged or in long term relationships.. on the bright side I guess that means more time to play games

next year my goal is to start the gym up again, and perhaps do some more travel

truthfully, the nay is because 2011 was so yay.  wasn't too bad, all things considered.  only a couple months towards the end were really rough.  it's pretty nice for now.  best to start 2013 on a positive note.

-Car got fucked to the point that fixing it wasn't worth it.
-Didn't lose any significant amount of weight.
-Rent went up and the apartment has had some appliance related issues.
-Family cat died after 19 years.  :'(

Yay:

-Got a brand new car!
-Started working on my weight and found cholesterol-lowering meds that don't fuck me up.
-Slight raise at work and my wife got a better job- on top of her making a bit more I no longer have to pay for her insurance.

My goals for next year are to dump this excess weight (I lost a bunch of weight a few years ago and gained it all back again) and see about moving to a new place.  We really want to get a pet or two but they charge a ridiculous, non-refundable, fee of $450-$650 PER PET where we are.  However the location is great so we may have to stay another year or two.  Depends on what happens with my career path.

Yeah this year in terms of teh sex was the worst for me since I lost my virginity when I was 19.  In the past couple of years, there was always some cute townie girl to fuck when before I moved to the job I have now.

- Probably my laziest year ever in terms of achieving personal goals.
- The least amount of sex I've had since 2004

Gay

~ Nothing.  My o-ring remains intact for now.

Yay

+ New promotion at the beginning of the year with a salary that effectively doubled what I started making early 2009.  I feel very fortunate because for most of my life, I didn't have shit and was deep in debt since 17.
+ "Just because" merit raise in the middle of the year, a cost of living raise at the end of the year, a fully funded bonus, and two financial incentive awards
+ Starting playing games a lot more.  I kind of fall in and out of playing them but I'm enjoying this new "in" time.  Being a multiplatform owner is pretty sweet.
